How's this for 30 minutes of consumption bars. Don't think it can get any better than this With plenty of power regenerated on top of the gas mileage. Gotta love the Colorado mountain descents. [attachmentid=4863]
I bet it's not such a pretty picture getting up to the top so you can make that descent! Be fair and post them both
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ichabod @ Sep 4 2006, 10:04 PM) </div> Nope, not so pretty, but surprisingly not bad. Battery was down to one bar pretty quickly and stayed there. It was still around 20 - 25 MPG which was far better than every other car out there I'm guessing. I could capture that picture some time in the future. The idea was simply to show that this screen can actually occur and it looks amazing. Trying to imply that it was awesome going up also was not the intent. You can see what the average mileage on that tank overall was on the bottom of the screen if you want some "fairness" indicator.
Joking . We've all seen enough of the low bar screens in our daily driving, so no need to post that. And From the drive you described I actually am surprised at how high your avg is. Seems like if I have to stop once for a toll booth in 2 hours of highway driving it brings my avg for the trip down by a point or two, so I bet a mountain ascent is pretty draining. Makes me want to drive the I-80 descent into Salt Lake City. That's a nice long downhill, few curves and 3+ lanes.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ken1784 @ Sep 5 2006, 08:31 AM) </div> Hey Ken where were you driving? Hey Ichabod, what is your license plate a phone code or hexadecimal or what?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(berylrb @ Sep 5 2006, 11:03 AM) </div> It looks like the Hex code for red to me.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(berylrb @ Sep 6 2006, 12:03 AM) </div> It's not mine. It was a partial record of 112 mpg/tank driving on relatively flat road by Teddy_Girl. http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=23380&hl= Ken@Japan
That is the hex for red A few clever (read: nerdy) folks have figured that one out already! I only wish it was my real license plate. That or an amateur radio operator plate because it has a lightning bolt on it: Maybe I should brush up on my morse code and take that test!
Here's my runner-up photo to the OP's photo (considering the photo Ken posted isn't his own) : This was after descending into Yosemite Valley from the Tuolumne Meadows area. Total miles shown (92) is the distance from the town of Mammoth Lakes. The Tioga Pass climb was a heck of a climb, got my mpgs down from an average of 48-49 to about 42-43. I think the descent more than made up for it. Overall the tank averaged at over 50mpg considering all the descents and climbs. I faked out my dad (he, my mom, my brother and my brother's wife rode in my dad's Honda Pilot) by telling him that the trip to Yosmite had totally screwed up my mpgs. I told him my average was now 58.5 when we all arrived at the Ahwahnee Lodge. Nearing the top of the Tioga Pass...down to 1 or 2 purple bars by this point...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ichabod @ Sep 5 2006, 07:25 AM) </div> I too am surprised at the tank MPG. This tank included driving up I-70 from Denver all the way over Berthoud Pass, then up Hwy 34 over Trail Ridge Road at 12,100+ feet, then comes the long downhill back to 5000 feet The first few miles on my car were going up that I-80 grade out of SLC taking it home to Colorado. I was impressed how well it climbed that grade without draining the battery immediately. I continue to be amazed by this car.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ichabod @ Sep 5 2006, 09:25 AM) </div> I don't know, on my drive this morning, I avereged 49.4 mpg over about 60 miles, and I had PLENTY of stopping and going. No hills either, unless you count freeway overpasses.
This was on relatively flat terrain. Not as good as Teddy girl, but the best I have managed so far. Dennis
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(maineprius947 @ Sep 7 2006, 05:38 AM) </div> Wow, that's impressive on flat terrain without the help of a downhill. What speed were you going? Was this at fairly good speed like 50 MPH or slower?
Hi Dennis, It looks great run!!! <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mtsarpilot @ Sep 7 2006, 08:48 PM) </div> My bet is it was below 42 mph barrier. Ken@Japan
Ken is right this was during a pulse and glide run of 47.8 miles round trip where I got 103 mpg for the round trip speeds were 27-40 mph small rolling hills the road was a low traffic 2 lane rural road with plenty of staight sections where faster cars could pass (I probably had about 3 or 4 cars pass me there is almost no traffic on this road) speed limit is 45 mph. I have a post at cleanmpg about the 103 mpg segment see here Dennis
