I took delivery of my 2019 Prius SLE on March 12. On March 24, while driving, the energy screen disappeared and a message that read, "Do you need a Break" appeared. I answered by voice, not knowing what else to do. The message went away and the energy display was back. About 10 seconds later, the message reappeared "Do you need a break".
I have contacted the dealer and they are clueless. Can anyone help me understand this?

It measures your performance to stay within the lines on the road. If you exceed the limit, you get that message with a drawing of a cup of coffee on the screen. I'm surprised it went away without you pressing the center button on your steering wheel input to acknowledge the "error".

Happens if you change lanes without indicating, or weave across lanes - it thinks you're dozing if you've done it 5 or 6(?) times in reasonably rapid succession.

Not sure about people who don't drink coffee whether they get a RedBull or Pepsi can sign?

I've only had it once - there was roadworks and we were straddling the centre-line. The warning went off after a while.

Or, the car thinks you've been driving too long non-stop and need to take a rest break. I believe you can dismiss the warning with this steering wheel button... 115677_IMG_2430.jpg

Very strange seeing "XLE" after Prius. lol Yeah, like everyone chimed in, PRIUS is very paternalistic. Stop for a cup of coffee. It's on Toyota... or NOT. :coffee:

I can just see this the future: "Sponsored by Starbucks" on the mfd and all local Starbucks outlets suddenly appear on the Nav. :D

Thanks! I was in a construction area and crossing different lanes at the time. Plus, when no one is behind me, I do not use a signal to change lanes.

To my sensibilities, this won't be outright offensive -- until they tie it into the Lane Departure Warning System such that the car starts nudging the wheel toward the next turn to Starbucks. . . :p;)

Thank you for replying. When no one is behind me I change lanes without signaling. I was driving thru a construction zone also.

I tend to straighten the curves a little, maybe a hangover from my motorcycle days; I suspect with a 4th gen I would be seeing that message a lot? Can it be turned off??

I turned my LDA off, most of my journeys are short urban and it is a bit of a nuisance in urban driving, trying to steer you towards parked cars when you go over the line to pass them without signalling. BTW it only works above a certain speed, 30 mph or 20 mph maybe.

Most trips I drive are 80+% on the Motorway, so I think I'll keep it on.

If you are drifting lanes at all and not moving the steering wheel it will think you are tired. My 2019 showed the "Do you need a break?" message with a picture if a cup of coffee. (Pretty sure...it was months ago) when I was messing around making it display the hold the sterring wheel message.
