Silly question, but am I the only one that halfway keeps track of every time I see another Prius on the road? I saw a Prius 20 times(maybe the same one more then once) yesterday and thought it was odd to see them so often.
Out here in Prii land, I see dozens in a day. So I don’t count. But I do count gen1’s. Saw 3 today and I only traveled 6 miles to and from a birthday party for my son.
The one I parked next to at Chuck E Cheese today had a lot of bumper stickers on the trunk. Was a nice light Blue and no clear coat damage. The other 2 weren’t as nice but still rollin down the road.
The funny thing is, I see equal numbers of Gen 2 and 4. More Gen 3 then any and just a couple of Gen 1 ever. I guess the Gen 3 stick out since I have one.
You’re predisposed to recognize them out of familiarity . Nothing wrong with that. But if you point each one out to passengers in the car with you, that could be a problem. But it sounds like it’s kept in your head.
Here in So Cal I see a lot of Prius'. I also see lots of trucks. In fact, I would venture to say (knowing someone will attack me with 10,000 pages of factual data to prove me wrong) that I see more trucks that Prius'. The more sexy features trucks have, the more I see. On the road, parking next to me (after I go out of my way to park away from trucks) and on the freeways.
I see Prii all the time around here. Mostly only take notice of the G1 Prius when I follow them in my G1 Insight getting better fuel economy lol. Don't see a lot of G1 Prii around here.
I see plenty of them here in AZ. Mostly Gen II and III but every once in a while a Gen I. Wonder if there is a "slug-bug" game for Prius...
My “problem” is that I tend to point them out, especially if my wife is in the car with me. I call it round 2 of the Prius game. Round one is when we stop at a light and I ask her if the ICE is on or off. She’s not correct about round one 1 of 4 times.
You’re a brave man. I don’t quiz my wife as it usually comes back around . Get her a hybrid and I bet she’d be better at round one.
I only recognize the GEN II. I see others, but have no idea what generation/model they are. I do see TONs of Outback though. Around the Pacific Northwest it is not unusual to see three or so Outbacks in a row at a traffic signal. At any time in our 210 space parking lot at work, there's probably 10+ Prii, 3 Teslas, and often some odd number of other BEV's and PHEV's. But Prii rule the roost, by a large number. What I don't see, even on a weekly basis, are Prius Primes. Still a very rare beast in the midwest.
You can't swing a dead armadillo around your head here in Tampa without hitting another Prius. LOL! There are many times at traffic lights where I look around and see 2-3 others with me, all watching the empty intersection surrounded by cars with their engines running but not moving. And I wonder if they thinking what I'm thinking. Lots of Teslas, too, by the way. I recently saw four of them within about a minute, two were consecutive cars. But only a small handful of Primes. On the bright side, Todd over at Tampa Hybrids seems to be getting in more and more Primes. Oooh!!! And I just remembered. There's a new Corolla hybrid that lives two blocks from us. Only one I've ever seen.
Yeah, I guess I opened the door for the off topic. I hope to spot the owner one of these days and hear about how they like it.
