checking if anyone else has this problem. my 2018 prime premium is linked up to my phone samsung galaxy s10 via bluetooth. it works great. i get phone calls and the system automatically routes the call thru the car speakers and microphone. i can press answer or hangup on the 11.6 screen. nice. all good. heres my problem when i am using google maps on my phone, and linked to the bluetooth 1) i get no voice commands thru the car speakers 2) the phone speaker is muted as well so basically i get no voice commands while i'm hooked up to bluetooth only way to get the voice to come on, is turn off my bluetooth and then i can hear the commands from my phone speaker again. is there a setting somewhere in the car, or in the phone to fix this ? i would like the bluetooth to stream the commands thru the car speakers... thx
ha !! that makes sense. i will try it. i guess it wont let me listen to fm radio, and automatically over ride for the bluetooth directions, like how the phone call automatically over rides the sound. but its a start...
To hear Google Maps info over the car speaker when your phone is connected via BT, you must have the "media volume" turned up on your phone. PS, you absolutely cannot have any type of Apple device connected to the car at the same time, say an iPod for music over USB. The Apple device will take over and keep the sound from your Android phone from getting through. Apple does not play well with others. Not a swipe at Apple, just the truth.
If u wanna remain with FM radio, set your phone to only connect as a phone and not as media. At least u can hear your directions while still having the phone feature available Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Slowly getting it sorted out. Main problem was the Bluetooth Media volume was at 75%... But my phone media was at zero. Had to disconnect Bluetooth so I could adjust the phone media volume up. Then got it all working. I agree, leave it on fm. And hear directions from the phone. This can be done by switching a setting in Google maps as well... So Bluetooth is set up for phone and media, but Maps is set NOT to play thru the Bluetooth.
Another reason why I have media turned off on my phone is for notifications. I only use the bt option for phone calls. I use XM satellite radio. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Having some trouble sorting this all out. Can I have my iPhone connected via BlueTooth and use Google Maps on the phone and hear the spoken directions either from the phone or the speakers? (Right now I have to disconnect the phone from BT in order to hear the directions from Google Maps.)
Yes, you can. You have to choose the settings in Google Maps to allow it to play voice over Bluetooth or Bluetooth phone call and adjust the volume as necessary. It seems to work best as Bluetooth phone call for me.
