Hey guys, First post. Before I start working towards finding schematics and cutting into a brand new cars harness, I wanted to see if anyone has successfully integrated a sub amp into a 4th gen with the advanced technology package with the 11.6 inch screen. I have searched online, but hadn't seen much.
I have on my 2016. I spliced into the wire on the back of the factory head unit for signal to my Helix DSP.2 processor. I used stinger speedwire from back of headunit to the processor. iPhone ?
I have a passive line out converter (loc) that’s tied into my rear door speakers and I have a single 12” Memphis sub with a Powerbass 600 watt amp. I also ran a remote gain control that I mounted u def the dash so I can adjust the bass from the drivers seat. Honestly, the hardest part will be running your power wire through the firewall. That took me forever! The best way is to use a tool that I’ll list below. You use it to poke a hole on the factory wiring grommet and then slide the amps power through the hole.
Been trying to figure out best way to get power wire through firewall for quite sometime. jamiec123: can you elaborate on how you got the wire through? Any pics from inside and outside the firewall? Any details or hints on the process. Also, what wire size did you use? I am trying to get 4 guage wire through, its quite thick. boostinsteve: did you ever get a sub installed, any details on that? Thank you.
Do a search for firewall in the audio subpages and you can find some good info. But there are couple tricks to do it. I highly recommend you remove the wiper cowl. It’s extremely difficult if you don’t remove it since you will need to pass through so many obstacles. If you have couple different size wire, you can solder or butt crimp from small wire to big wire so the wire slides out slowly making the hole bigger and bigger until you have your large gauge wire through. Use some dish soap or silicone grease so it can slide easier through.
