Wondering if this is a module/ECU issue .

    I got a 08 so I don't think it's specific for early years.
Today I accidentally toasted the radio when I was measuring power at cables by driver side's kick panel. For some seconds the dome lights came on, the cd player began to spin and then smoke came from the radio and back to square one.
Starting to think this has something to do with radio unit but it would be a strange thing if the radio is connected to dome lights and remote key... However, I measured the radio socket pins and I get 12 v at one pin when I press the power button

Yes, It,s a male socket with pretty thick cables (power cables) attached and a female socket going in. I will try to take a pic. I accidentally connected two male pins to eachother and dome lights came on and cd player began to spin (the car was completely off) and then the radio was toasted. Today Im going to a scrapyard to pick up a new radio and tomorrow I will get the car to a car electrician here in Sweden (not toyota) for troubleshooting.
I will update you if any news occurs.

    So they solved the problem.
There is a wire from the fuse box in engine compartment to cabin's fuse box. Thats among 100 other wires in a thick harness.
Since its hard to replace, the repair guy took power from another cable which has electricity constantly and put a fuse in between those so now its all working!!

I almost assume it's the red 12 wire for Dome fues- as I believe my problem lies there. 12v at block under hood, but nothing out. But I don't get complete circuit when checking 12 across fuse .

Go inside the car, open the driver side's kick panel (where the hood latch is attached) then you will see like a board of wires above the fuse box.
Try and connect a new wire between the pink and the blue one (thick ones). They must still be attached to the board as well.
If this works, put a fuse on the new wire in case of shorting and close it up.

Any way to shoot a picture-
I ask as I have already replaced that assy- as for wires. I did not.

are the wires solid color Pink and Blue- no stripes on either, and are the two connected.
    IF so- perfect.

The electrician has already closed it up and the car isnt with me right now but I will get a pic as soon as I can.
The wires are solid colors, pretty thick and connected to the board. They're located above the relays (blue relay, pink relay and the flasher). Just get a small piece of wire and try to connect those together but they still have to be connected to the board so you just can't disconnect them from the board and connect them together.

Do you only have a blue wire there?
No pink or red? The thickness is the same as the blue one

    That's different than mine!
I suggest you do a little testing with a piece of wire or maybe you can begin with your multimeter and test for current with the car off. Try also the green and pink fuse on the board to see if you get current.
Then you can try and connect the piece of wire. But only do it for a second to see if it works, in that way you dont risk damaging stuff, like when I toasted my radio.

Is there any way that you can post a pic of the repair that was made on your prius. And where those wires plug into the junction box like in KnightRiders pic. Thanks for your time and the info you have shared.
