I tried searching the forum and couldn't find answer for this and hence this posting. I brought early 2006 Model which was manufactured in November 2005 and my DVD navigation software that I have is of version 5.1 I have these two questions? Is that the latest version still for new vehicles being purchased as of recently? If there is a higher version than this version then can I request for free upgrade of my navigation software to the latest version as 2006 vehicles are still getting delivered.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mchinta @ Sep 4 2006, 02:20 AM) </div> That's the same version on mine, delivered Aug 19th. I'm hoping for an update also as their are two main interstates in my area that are new(ish), less than two years, that are not on the maps.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(mchinta @ Sep 4 2006, 01:20 AM) </div> Is this question about the USA DVD or the Europe DVD? I've been enquiring about an upgrade to the Europe version for weeks and have had no satisfactory reply.I esimate that the current Europe version is at least two years out of date. Also it omits large areas of Spain, France, Ireland and other countries.
Be careful what you wish for. I upgraded from 3.1 to 4.2 and while the maps and POIs may be updated, the navigation guidance has gotten worse.

It just misses some new developments which are less than 2 -3 years old but otherwise it is pretty cool. I dont know what European version is the latest but I was looking for US version. Are we eligible for free upgrade to latest version that was last delivered by 2006 end? If so whom do we contact Toyota or nearby Dealer?
The navigation upgrade campaign was due to the fact that Toyota changed companies that supplied the GPS data. As a result, the navigation system in the 2004 cars was more out of date than what was provided to the owners of the 2003 Prius. Enough people complained that the latest navigation system was inferior to the older system that Toyota agreed to a one time upgrade. It is highly unlikely that Toyota will continue to provide free upgrades, especially since the 5.x version is an improvement over the 4.x version.
