I have the Prius Prime in Plus trim. This model only includes the smart key functionality on the driver’s door. My 2014 Prius Plug in had this on both front doors and the hatch, and I miss that convenience.

Anybody have experience adding this capability to the other door and hatch?

an examination of the service manual wiring diagrams should tell you what is already there, and what needs to be added.

I think it could be expensive. The computer assembly of the smart key, for Plus (8999047270), is different than the Premium/Advance (8999047280). And the assembly itself cost over $1100. You would also need additional sensors and door handle to make that work. I am not sure if the 8999047270 & 8999047280 are actually functionally identical or not. Since I have both the Plus and Premium model, when I have spare time, I'm going to try to swap it and see it that still works, just to proof if the 2 different parts are identical or not.

    Stay tune....

I'm not holding my breath, but I wish there was a way to just upgrade this for my 2019 Prius Prime Plus, after having this capability with my 2004 Prius! i completely assumed this was a standard feature for the Prius and was shocked that it wasn't part of the Plus.

Yea, its strange toyota is still charging extra for that... On the 2013-2018 auris (corolla) it didnt come base with keyless access at all... which is ridiculous considering even the 2009 prius came with it on the driver door handle... Toyota has and still is making some weird nice person decisions... Turning slowly into BMW, "milk everything as options"...

when you consider the different in price of the 3 prime models, you realize they have to cut some things out to offer an amazing car at a lower price

still... Its over 10 yr old technology... Keyless access is some they could have added on all handles with no problem in my opinion... And here the base Prime costs as much as a base model 3 lol. Which is why it doesnt sell well here at all, ive seen 2 prime`s in my city, one blue and one red. Thats it, yet i see 100`s of model 3`s. Is most likely different in the states, but this is the prices here.

(when looking at the different equipment levels, the base prime here does come with keyless access on all doors and hatch, so apparently thats only a "USA thing" that they only come base with it on the drivers door)

Standard range will be 348 000NOK or some around there, no way anyone would ever get a prime over it.

agreed, if the pricing is close, it makes no sense.

here, there is a few thousand difference.

Anyone ever figure this out? I would like to at least add it to the passenger door...if its not too crazy I would also do rear hatch, but the real issue is putting my toddler in on passenger side, its annoying to have to press the button when he is in my arms

    Anybody try this yet?

It looks like folks were successful on the Gen. 3 using this method. I suspect this would be possible on the 4th Gen/Prime, but I would need adult supervision before trying it myself.
