I still own my first generation 2002 Prius and it’s running well with 132,000 miles. But today I was able to pick up a running 2007 with 122,000 miles for $1100. The main problems are a totally dead 12v battery, the rear latch is goo and won’t open, the MFD is cracked, but still displays. The digitizer touch screen does not respond. The front windshield needs replacement. But it drives, the tires are so, so. The body is clean. The interior is in good shape but needs a thorough cleaning. Has the strong scent of foo foo, or about 20 scents of Febreeze combined. All in all, I think it’s a good buy for $1100. With a little investment, I should have a vehicle that will go for many more years.
seems like a very good buy. any plans to test the main battery with dr prius or similar? it looks really tidy from the outside.
I changed the inverter coolant pump out today. This is why the previous owner sold it. I’ve got the job down to about 30 minutes now. Took it for a long drive. It’s tracking well. It’s going to need new struts and its front suspension tightened up. Now I’m trying to find my mini VCI cable.
Struts you say? OEM struts are KYB so you can buy them pretty cheap on Rock Auto. They even have a KYB complete drop in option for the fronts if you don’t want to dissemble yours.
That’s the way I’m going. The KYB quick struts. I’ve done a full set of no name struts from eBay on my 02 and they’re not bad, but they could be better. Got a new windshield today, an alignment, and my AC serviced.
