I have a 7 yr extended warranty that expires next April. Sounds like an expensive fix that may be worth using the warranty for.

I just posted a thread with the same problem.
I just bought used 2010 prius about 10 months ago.
    And recently got four lights.
    Park, abs, vcs, (!).
I ran the scanner and got the code C1391.
    Abnormal leak from accumulator.
I am going to call Toyota to see if there has been recall or see if they will cover it.

Hopefully they will be willing to help.

The campaign D0H was an actual recall (not one of the "recall-lite" sorts of things like a warranty extension), so there should have been a notice to bring the car in and have it done, and the Toyota Owners web site should show, given the VIN, whether it has been done, or hasn't yet, and if it hasn't yet, they should do it.

It was limited to cars in certain VIN ranges, and only those where the label on the brake accumulator was positioned a certain way. If you can scare up a copy of the recall instructions, T-CP-D0H-A510-D.pdf online (such as here), you can see the VIN ranges on page 3, and the accumulator label position check on page 8. (It is mighty tough to see the accumulator label with the cowl on, unless you have a snaky camera or something.)

I guess relief is one way to look at it. Or you can look at recalls as unexpected chances to get expensive parts in your car refreshed with brand new ones several years into its life! (y)

That sounds about right as a dealer price; the MSRP for that part is $2522. In Gen 3, "booster" (without the word "pump") refers to a part of the master cylinder, which also has the ABS actuator and ECU in the same assembly, hence the price. (In one of the prime examples of confusing Prius nomenclature, there's also a thing called "booster pump", which is not part of that assembly at all in Gen 3 ... though it was in Gen 2.)

For future readers, it's essentially useless to know that the lights were ABS BRAKE TRAC. Those lights will be on for pretty much any of the dozens of possible problems with the brake system; they mean there are diagnostic codes to be read. Reading the codes will, in general, be necessary to know what problem(s) you've got and what part(s) will be needed.

What was the resolution to this problem? I have a 2010 Pruis and have been told I need a brake booster replacement. This appears to include a master cylinder and will cost around$2500 -- my question is the dealer is also saying I need a pump as well which will be around $1000. Do you only need a pump if if there was a leak??

My resolution was to have an independent Toyota repair shop purchase a salvaged part. It came from a 2012 Prius with 55k miles, so hopefully I'm out of the window of those bad ABS parts and will have plenty of mileage left on it. The total cost for me was $1,600. It came with a 1-year warranty form the salvage yard. I've had not issues with it.

The ABS comes as one part, not two. So you don't have a choice to purchase only the pump, according to my repair guy.

My VIN wasn't in the range either, but the problem still happened to me and I got stuck with a $3500 repair bill that Toyota refused any help on.

I had a 2010 V. Total brake failure, paddle went right to the floor. I had the extended warranty which paid for the repair-this was before the recall. I was told it would have cost $4500.

My 2012 seems to have issues like these and with or without hybrid I'm thinking my original thought - why didn't I get a Fit.

My gen 3 prius is giving the same weird brake sounds. Looks like an expensive fix. I was never notified of any recall like this.
