    Hello,

Is there a lens cover replacement available for Prius Prime headlight ?
I know you can replace the lens cover for normal Prius gen IV and I would expect to see something similar for Prius Prime. Any idea where I can find only the cover for the headlight lenses ?
Below is how to replace the lens cover for normal Prius

    video youtube

    Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that too. However, in the videoclip you can see that guy replacing lens cover for a Prius gen IV headlight which is not sold separately neither like in Prime case. He must have obtain that lens cover from somewhere and I can bet the same place can provide lens covers for Prime too.
Instead of spending 1100$ for a new headlight I rather prefer spending 2-300$ for a lens cover.

The video is for Japanese Gen4 Prius, and I know there are many parts (both OEM and aftermarket) that are sold in Japan that is not available elsewhere. I found this info and at least seems to indicate that Headlight lens and gasket are available in the US for what they call "KOREA SPEC&PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM-WITHOUT" model. Not sure if it fits US model or not though.

If you can't find the cover alone, another option may be a salvage yard for the entire assembly.

It would be a good selling point, a readily available and reasonably easy to swap headlamp "skin". Ever since they turfed glass sealed beams it's been a big headache.

I wonder how often the lenses break without damage to the rest of the light. Stones would do it, I assume. I had some of the clear thick X-Pel overlays on a VW - they worked well protecting the glass. Cost about $60 in 2001. I checked their site and they don't have pre-cut kits for Primes or current model Prius headlights. Too bad, because that was great stuff.

I'm thinking too, about the haze plastic headlights get, especially with a steady diet of parking in the sun.

In my experience, the newer lights are much better than the older stuff in this regard. I just polished out a set of lights on a 2007 Carmy - in about 20 minutes they went from yellow and hazy to crystal clear. Little buffer pad that goes on a drill, pre-loaded with abrasives. Just keep wet and run the drill.

    Best things I do:
Don't drive the car over 100mph all the time.
Park the car in the garage.
    Keep away from stone-throwing peasants.
Sell the car at 5 years old.
This way, you don't need to use Polish ( or Scandinavian, or Lithuanian!)
    Works for me, har, har!!

I got mine up to indicated 115mph with plenty of EV charge. It still had more power left! When I ran similar test with no EV left, car stopped accelerating at about 109mph indicated. Both tests performed on closed courses, fairly level ground, approximately 75° Fahrenheit.

I put 3M paint protection on the front of my prime. It came with slips for the headlights. The bumper wad a pain to get right, but my friend and I eventually got it (lots of curves).

Paint protection film is a easy and simple way to protect the headlights. I have done PPF on all of my cars for the past 15 years and it keeps about 95% of the damage off the paint and lights. When I get my Prime it will get the front end done and a full hood wrap with lights, mirror backs, etc. Well worth the money to me. I like my cars to remain looking nice. Additionally, once you install it, it's there. If by some chance your car gets hit the insurance company will pay to replace it- just keep the paperwork.
