2012 Prius iii with 146k miles always lovingly taken care of. Over the last month I’ve noticed that if i have to step on the gas (merging on highway, crossing traffic) there is a pause, feels like less power than usual and the ice engine runs / revs for 4-5 seconds at the same rate after i have let off the gas. I normally run on eco but with ac on as I’m in south Florida. On power , normal , ac off same issue
Ouch. I don’t have the definite answer to that. I would begin by attaching an OBD diagnostic tool to look for failure codes, such as cylinder misfire. It could be a bad coil or spark plug on one cylinder, but it’s not possible to say without some diagnostic info.
I have had this happen several times. No resolution was ever found. I think it is related to the temp of the HV Battery Pack since the HV temp was always high when it happened for me.
I’ll take it into service... just wanted to make sure i wasn’t going to blow up the car ;-) Other than that when it’s at speed it’s fine, ac is cold, no noises or shakes... mph is down 7-10%
Check throttle body, maybe needs cleaning. Dare I ask: did that include Exhaust Gas Recirculation circuit and intake manifold cleaning. It should be well along towards clogged by now.
