I'm coming off a 4-month 2005 Package 2 Prius TRAC rental while I was waiting for my 2006 Package 8 to arrive (on 1/7/06). The 06 has 2 "warning light" incons that stay on the time. 1. The "Ready" light 2. The "Passenger" light on the new passenger side display. In the 05, the "Ready" light used to go out when the car ws started and there was no "Passenger" panel. Are all the 06's like this? Thanks,
pasenger panel means the system is detecting non seat belt use. got anything on the seat?? if so, move it around a bit until the light goes off
The "Ready" light in our '06 is illuminated all the time that the car is ready to be driven. I do remember the passenger light on with the seat empty. The quick reference guide gave me a lot of information regarding the lights and it seems to me that both might be a normal condition. See the quick reference guide or the owners manual.......
Florida Prius - Thanks I'm numb from reading manuals this weekend. I just didn't remenber reading anywhere about both lights being on all the time. DaveinOlyWA I think you're describing the 05 Passenger Warning condition; it's changed in the 06 - there's a new set of lights for the Passenger to get confused about.
On an 06, the word PASSENGER itself is always lit. If that's all that is lit, no-one was detected in the passenger seat. If a small child (or laptop, or waffle iron) is detected in the passenger seat, the word OFF is also illuminated indicating that the passenger side airbag is disabled for safety reasons. If an adult is detected in the passenger seat, the word ON is also illuminated indicating that the passenger side airbag is enabled. -Ken

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(samkusnetz @ Sep 1 2006, 01:48 AM) </div> The "ready" light is on when the hybird system is on and the car is "ready" to be driven. If you turn on the power without your foot on the brake (accessory mode for lack of a better term) that light will not be on. On my 06 the word "passenger" is not a light. It is a label above the airbag lights. "Airbag" is always lit up when the car is on. The airbag "on" or "off" lights only light up if the car senses someone or something in the passenger seat. The weight of whatever is in the seat detemines whether the passenger airbag is on or off. The red passenger seat belt light will be on if the car senses weight in the seat and belt is not fastened.
