Is there a basic service manual for the 2005 Prius? I am thinking of something like one of the Chilton Publications. I would not be messing with the high voltage areas, only general maintenance items.

    Thanks,

    Alan

I don't think you'll find a generic one like Chilton, system is just too complex for that. There really isn't much to maintain.

If you want a svc manual, the printed kind I think goes for $300. If you have a lot of time on your hands, you can download the manual, one section at a time, from techinfo.toyota.com for $10/day, or $50/month (yearly subscription also available). You are talking about a couple thousand PDFs. Keep each chapter in a separate folder, as filenames are duplicated. Also I suggest prefixing the file name with a 2 digit sequence # which would make it easier to assemble the PDFs.

You can then use Adobe Acrobat (you can get a free 30 day trial version) to put the PDFs together. I would still keep each section in a separate folder. If you do use a trial version of Adobe, download the PDFs first using the latest patched reader, as the website is not compatable with the unpatchable trial version.

    Also get the wiring diagram.

For me, it was worth it. That's how I got to know so much about the details of the car (other than John's site of course).

    that doesn't make sense. shouldn't it be 2001-2003 or 2004-2009? and the o/p has a 2010
