My BMW's side mirrors angle down when backing up, I prefer my BMW's method 3 to 1 over my Prime on this issue.

Why? I don't want or need to see the rims. They are narrower than the side body panel and I'd rather see where I'm going.

Over 30 years of driving and I've never hit a wheel while backing into a parking place. I've pointed my mirror down manually on rare and unusual situations but doing that makes it far harder to align with a parking place.

If such a feature were to be implemented I'd demand it have a way to be shut off.

Not sure about other models, and I do not find the feature very useful, but Nissan implemented auto tilting side mirror with power mirror switches. When you put gear in reverse, the car automatically tilts either R or L side mirror if you leave the power mirror in R or L position. You can have only one of the side mirror to tilt at a time. If you do not want the tilting, then keep the switch in the neutral Off position, nither mirror tilt when you put the gear in R.

That sounds good, since I always leave my mirror switch in the neutral ("off") position.

Here's a wish-list item - no Softex or Leather! Cloth, period.

    1. ability to move the hud a bit higher and more to the right.
    a. speed limit sign (which I like) should NEVER override the terminal navigation guidance! nothing sucks more than going through a complex intersection and the guidance goes away... that was a poor choice of priority.
    2. change the center storage lid to flip up rather than to the side... it's dang hard for a passenger to find anything the way it is
    3. lower the auto-highbeam off speed to 10 from 21. thing keeps clicking off on corners that I really need brights on and in my development which has a 20mph speed limit
    4. complete redo of the radio controls... current mess is fing stupid. (for instance if I go through the SAT channel, select one, decide I don't like it I have to go all the way through the menu's to get to the list to select the next channel and repeat. it's an interface designed by a 2nd grader who never uses it).

(as an aside.. even the wording is stupid... "charge now" appears if you don't have a schedule. my older, non-techy neighbor who brought a prime was convinced that he had to charge the car NOW or it would damage itself. he was afraid to go to a store because it always said charge now and there was no charger at the store).

    5. memory for the seats and mirrors (how hard could this be to add... should be just software at this point)
    6. make all the "dealer only" settings settable from the main screen. WHY have some that are only dealer settable? Why have them at all if I have to pay a dealer to change them?
    7. show individual tire pressures... you can't tell me with all the friggin menu's on the MFD you can't add one more page to show which tire is low? what about things like oil pressure, voltage, temperature? this stuff is all available and I can see it from my reader so why don't they just have an engine screen that shows it? What would it take? One intern a few days to do at most?
    8. ability to remote lock/unlock (or at least lock) the car from the app. Wth good is it to remote start the car if it refuses because the car doors are unlocked? It's obviously connected to the system... so it should damn well give you the option to lock/unlock them! I could understand it not doing so if a key is detected in the car, but if it's not it should just lock them. Hell, i'd like a warning that I forgot to lock the car if it's not at my home location (or some reasonable distance).
    9. a much better QI charger... the current one sucks, plain and simple. I have to take my phone out of the case to get it to charge reliably, otherwise it just flashes orange at me. is that really the best they could do? did they REALLY not test it against a variety of phones with CASES on them? If they didn't their testers should be fired, and if they did, they're product managers should be fired... in any case, someone should be fired for that mess.
    10. why is there a separate switch for auto-headlights? we already have a stalk with positions for high/low... it would have been better to have low-auto-high positions on the headlight stalk. the system sucks enough that I need to disable it sometimes but is useful enough to have on in other situations. current setup with the button you can't see without craning your neck sucks.
    11. back lumbar support needs an up-down adjustment. doesn't quite hit exactly where I want it, and it's totally useless on my wife who needs to use a pillow when driving in the prius for any length of time.
    12. why do *some* settings revert to a default and others not when you power-cycle the car.
    13. why can I not disable some of the pop-ups (lane keeping disable warning EVERY time the car dips below 32 for the first time on a drive). it's just a stupid annoyance.
    14. I want full control of all pop-up/warning messages
    15. I want to be able to disable all the titles no the menu's on the MFD. I've been driving the car for a long time now (over 50K miles). I think I can figure out the difference between the AC, radio, hybrid system pages without needing a title that I have to read to tell me.

    16. entire entune system (I have an advanced). some parts are ok, some are down-right shite … actually most are downright shite.
    a. bubble menu's... 'nough said.

The side mirrors on my Ram have a tilt-down option. I tried it once. That was enough. I'll never try it again. I need to see where I'm going, not where I'm at. By the time the ditch next to my drive shows up in the mirror (tilted down), it's too late to avoid it.

I own a Prius Prime and a Lexus RX450h (MY 2010). I love both cars, which have different use, and specular pros and cons... in nuce, the car I would like would be with the RX body and engine, but equipped with a 10 kWh plugin traction battery, a heat pump, LED adaptive hieadlights and a solar roof, but openable (sunroof).

Only if they include an adjustable lumbar support on the cloth seats, which they currently do not. It's on the Softex trim only.

Okay with me, as long as you can make it go away. ANY amount of lumbar support absolutely kills my back. Actually, the lumbar support in my Prime, at fully collapsed, isn't quite collapsed enough, but close enough that it doesn't cause pain.

Maybe use the auto parking feature of your car? I haven't tried it yet but I ASSUME it works or they wouldn't have put it in the car.

I agree with many of the things in your list but especially this one. They should have done that day 1 in the 2004 Prius. There is a screen, use the thing! Put it in the maintenance section, then there would be something there I would use. You could turn off the reverse and passenger seat belt beepers by doing stupid dances in the Gen IIs. But at least you COULD do it yourself.

Its a lot quicker if I park by myself. After a days work, at times, I just don't want to pay around with the tech toys the car has.

so interestingly enough about the auto-park... it backs you into a space. That's great and all EXCEPT if you have an advanced with cross-traffic alert. I seem to find it safer actually backing out of a space when flanked by a pair of massive mega trucks (I live in Kentucky). If someone's coming the radar will alert me with only a small amount of my car's back-end peeking out of the parking space, while if i'm pulling forward I need to stick a whole lot of car nose out of my spot to get enough visibility to see what's coming (more than enough to get hit by someone who just wants to use my insurance to upgrade their car).

With rear cross-traffic it just seems to me to actually be safer than using the auto-park to back me in (assuming I would use it as I can back in myself a lot faster than using the system).
