Just got a 2018 with fewer than 12k miles - woo! I'm still in the mode of correcting the small remnants of the previous owner, and wanted to know what the best practice is for cleaning dirt off the ceiling fabric, as shown in the picture (hopefully it's visible). There are a few spots on the ceiling, as well as along the front passenger windshield pillar. What's the best way to erase these stains? Pixel 3 ?
My approach (when the stains were greasy handprints left by an alignment shop, grr) was to blot with white napkins wet with isopropanol and soda water; you'll also see a lot of other suggestions were offered in that thread.
I wouldn't use these. In my 2012 Prius v, I got some oil on the headliner. It "pilled" badly when I rubbed on it with a cloth with a cleaner on it.
She/he said "cleaning dirt off the ceiling fabric" - which is why I mentioned "not grease" - assuming it was dirt. I had a mark from the end of a long handled shovel which brushed on mine, and an eraser worked perfectly.
Well, I can't really say what kind of "dirty" it is, other than it doesn't appear to be grease. Would the isopropanol and soda be the way to go, then?
The isopropyl and club soda seemed to do the trick on the pillar stains, but the ceiling stain is a little more tenacious. I'll give it another treatment soon. Dabbing at it repeatedly, quickly, and with some force seemed to do the most.
