I just ordered a white prius, package 7 with TAN interior...

Does the tan get really dirty or will it be okay? I have only owned cars with black interior and I wanted to change it up, also the black showed a lot of dirt I thought. People with tan, let me know how you like/dislike it.

Also, do you guys like the white color???

i like the tan interior. at first i was unsure, but it does look nice.

since the hubby's a mechanic (and chronically messy), we got the black all weather floor mats and a set of seat covers. but before we got those i was still able to clean anything that got on them just fine. mostly grease stains, those come out with a strong solvent.

I think you're going to be really happy. I have a grey interior, which is pretty good for not showing dirt, but tan would hide more. Not that you'll ever let your baby get dirty, of course. White is a good exterior color for not showing dirt until it's really dusty/dirty, and is easy to just rinse off to look good.

When I put my order in, I told the salesman I would take either a white or a silver- whichever came in first. When you say tan, are you talking about that almost ivory shade? That was what was available in the 2005. I opted for the grey interior. I figured I would trash the ivory in about 2 weeks. There is no eating allowed and the only approved beverage is bottled water.
The grey still looks brand new after one year.

a/w mats list price is something like $80 for the set of 4... we got the employee discount so we don't really count ;)

A white exterior color makes for very easy maintenance, it won't show dirt, plus it reflects the heat. I have a salsa red '05 with the tan interior, and other than the floor mats, it looks pretty good after roughly one year. The mats have some dark spots that Resolve doesn't want to seem to take out, especially around the driver's side heel area... I was kind of concerned about the arm rests and console, but they are holding up great. Gray is probalby the same story. I'd prefer darker colored carpet and mats, perhaps a dark brown or burgundy, but that's just me.

I've been happy with the tan interior now at 3 years and going. When spots of stuff came up I have some car upholstry cleaner (the kind with the brush at the top where you spray it) that seems to work fine on those dirty spots.

Unfortunately when I changed my boys' car seats over to booster seats the other day I found some 'damage' that might not be so easily cleaned up.

The front edge of the back seat has, apparently, served as a convenient foot rest for the past 3 years. It was stained with tons of dirt of all sorts and did not easily clean up with my foaming cleaner.

My plan is for a good detailing sometime soon with hopes that a good steam clean will restore it to 'like new' condition. But right now it looks nasty.

The usual areas where I use and see the car look very good.

I have the white package 6 with tan interior. I like the white color: am not sure it is any cooler than others I've had in the past, it does seem to stay cleaner longer, and my wife swears white cars are involved in less accidents (I haven't done the research, but my wife is happy, and when momma is happy, everybody's happy).

As long as you don't have kids with a penchant for colored Garorade, the interior will hold up just fine. I've already cleaned black scuff marks from the seats that turned out just fine.

I think with the Tan interior, you'll just have to stay on top of it more in terms of keeping it clean. I've opted for the gray, so I don't have to worry as much. :)

I forgot to mention one bad thing about the white prius; The rear of the car shows dirt like a big dog when it rains :( . Not the entire car, just the rear below the window and the bumper. The aerodynamics of the car seem to make this the depository for road grime whenever there is wet pavement. I usually carry a towel for a quick wipe down before it dries. Two swipes usually does the trick.

And, Yes, I changed my Avatar. My apologies to the other Marty Feldman fan on PC.

White is nice. Kind of the major appliance feel. :D

Go with Seat Covers. I do not have stock in Wet Okole, but their covers are awesome. They make the stock interior look sporty, more comfortable and they resist all stains. My daughter looks like she lost a food fight every time I pick her up from pre-school. Not a stain yet...

Wet Okole will send you swatches for free. They aren't cheap, $500+ for the complete set...

For me, it beats having your ride smell like the inside of a fisherman's boot, or vomit air-freshner...

Mine is ivory, but I've got seat covers and floor mats which cover most of it.

Do you like tan? Do you like white?

Then no, you did not make a mistake.

If you don't like tan or white, keep calling other dealers until you find what you like.

My tan interior has random spots and wear marks; doesn't really bug
me because it's my work-truck and daily driver, and any interior
is likely to get a little banged up over time. Larger oopses can
come out of the microfiber with Windex or maybe even a little
rubbing alcohol. The elbow-rub on the center console is probably
there to stay since that's my shifting fulcrum... and this is the
northeast, the floor is going to get totally awash in salt and gravel
every winter and it's *amazing* how much cruft those mats can hold.
    .
So, no, you didn't make a mistake. If it's otherwise the car you
want, don't worry about a little dirt here and there and give it a
going-over once or twice a year. Like right before those hybrid and
    alternative-energy shows...
