We had a couple Gen IIIs which were able to gift to our adult kids. Around 55% of those that responded on the Facebook Prime Owners Group either had a Prius or other Toyota Hybrid.

But if you are selling it you'll never know if all that work on keeping the EGR system squeaky clean did anything useful for the life of that engine.

You were stating that the chronic head gasket failures (that Gen3's suffer at high mileage) would not happen to your Gen3.

Oh well, I guess I'll keep my side of the research alive.
    My '11 level 5 w/ATP is at 190k miles.
Coolant and all other fluids changed on schedule and NO unscheduled dik'n with the EGR circuit.

My position is high speed travel and top quality oil will keep the EGR system functional 'as designed'.
And if there is ever a flow restriction in that system the car as a sensor system to advise me of that.

What's your new ride going to be?
Probably not an EV, because toyota is now poo-pooing that idea. (probably bc they are so far behind the ball on that tech....:p)

Only reason I’m selling is to help a friend of a friend out, so I’ll have tabs on it ;).

I was very fortunate with our 2010 and if the head gasket does give up the ghost, @The Critic and I were discussing a Gen4 engine swap:).

So what is top quality oil and what is high speed travel. Since you like to chastise preventative maintenance, help us define your terms:whistle:.

As for the new ride, it’s a Blue Magnetism Prime:

And here’s what I’ve been able to do on a couple of commutes:

Since we’ll stay in contact with the new owner, I’m sure I’ll get updates as well as the opportunity to continue to help maintain it(y).

That rhetoric is becoming shallow & desperate. We all know Toyota has chosen to avoid the tax-credit game, deciding instead to focus on delivery of choices capable of reaching a very wide audience in a manner not disruptive to their true customers, the dealers. That's why claims of enthusiasts don't matter. They simply feed innovator's dilemma, making the challenge of profitable high-volume sales more difficult. Not only do I applaud that sensible business approach, I also support it.

My first Prius was a Classic model, among the initial rollout here in the United States way back in September 2000.

I traded it in to be among the first to get the next generation, the Iconic model. It was a pioneer package too, so I could easily identify it (in addition to the very unique dent I put on it). And sure enough, I saw it in a parking lot a few months ago, after all these years!

That was the Prius I owned for the longest duration. I had it 118K miles for 5.5 years. It got traded to again be among the first to get a next-gen upgrade. This one, like the others, demonstrated a strong commitment to refining the technology.

That 2010 model got replaced less than 3 years later with a mid-cycle update, the first offering here to include a plug. Since I had driven a prototype of for a few days years before, it was solid assurance that Toyota was striving to deliver a product for the masses.

That first Prius PHV was a great opportunity for Toyota to explore the market, choosing to rollout mid-cycle to limited regions. Seeing how effective that approach was at avoiding the tax-credit game, Toyota continued with the limited rollout. I jumped on board yet again.

This latest Prius confirms Toyota is striving for that wide appeal target. The technology in Prime is an adaptation to the hybrid system allowing it to enjoy the battery-pack with a full EV driving experience, one that China will be seeing as a Corolla PHV. China will also be seeing Toyota first EV offering, a new model of CH-R. Meanwhile, watch how Toyota is quietly road-testing their 152hp full-electric system in Mirai. Wouldn't that make a nice battery-only setup for a next-gen model of Prius? I need something to set my sights on for yet another upgrade opportunity.

2011 VW TDI Wagen with 6 speed manual. Great car, but VW offered me a ridiculously high price in the emissions buyback.

That car took me on a lot of long road trips around the country. 700+ mile range on a tank of fuel.

2017 PRIME Premium replaced 2015 Gen3 Two. At the time I test drove PRIME, I went to a dealer with no intention of buying one. But the offer was too good to pass up. In retrospect, I should have not traded in the Gen3. A few months later our other car broke down.

Yeah, to be precise. Neither broken down nor rusted away at the time I got rid of it. It was still running fine. But, it was a time bomb for the rear differential and driveshaft failure. I decided not to fix it nor drive it and got rid of it.

‘14 Prius Plug-In (was waiting for Prime, but the Prius needed major repairs, and had to make a choice in 2016 so bought it used)

And next car will likely be the ‘20 Prime.

The ‘17 prime replaced our ‘15 Prius 4, which replaced our ‘11 Prius 2 which replaced our almost totaled ‘07 Mazda6 hatchback.
