Force, If I ever get the chance to install my front camera mod. (I have the parts and instructions, just not the time) I would like to discuss camera locations on the Prius. Shark fin for the rear? Yes! Behind or in the mirror for the front. Recording device... Have you found one yet? I'll try to get my front mod done soon and I'll post pics. Then I do have a great idea for side view locations that I think you'll like, you might even be amazed. B)
My Prius was vandalized in broad daylight at a shopping mall... not sure if it was because it was a Prius or not.
I have not been vandalized yet but I have been threatened once on the road for the only reason I can thing of being the Prius. I was driving back from a climbing trip one evening in the far right lane of a three lane road. Traffic was light and I was just pulsing and gliding around the 45 mph limit. I was about to turn onto the interstate into town when a Red Camaro that squeezed into the lane behind me floored it to pass me on the right through an intersection and an on ramp narrowly fitting between me and the curb just to cut in front of me. It was so odd. He was in late 50's and nearly hit me and god knows who else just to make some strange point, maybe I was too slow on the accelerator for him. He wasted like two gallons of gas just to be such a dick. I laughed and gave him the finger through the windshield. That is when he really freaked. He stopped his acceleration in traffic ahead of me just to drive sans hands and use both to flip me off, on the freaking Interstate. I just stayed back and he continued this for about a mile before taking the next exit, all the while giving me the bird. He was on his way no doubt to go home and kick puppies. My only thought is that it must have been some pent up anti-prius thing. His 60 year old wife was even in the car.
My two-week-old Prius had a tire cut at the Fry's Electronics in Palo Alto, CA. Clean straight cut in the sidewall. Pretty sinister, too. Not cut all the way through so it would be flat, but partly through nicking the sidewall cords, so maybe it would blow out later, like on the highway. And I have a baby seat in the back. Maybe they didn't see that. Fortunately I saw the cut when I came out to the car, with my wife and 2yr old. I'm a pretty non-aggressive, neutral driver, so I don't think I pissed anyone off on my way to the store. Maybe it's my Support Our Troops sticker over the gas filler door that someone took offense to. Or maybe I'm just paranoid, and it's just some high school boy idiot trying to gain some self-esteem. Humans can be really disappointing sometimes.
Its often a shame....sometimes I feel people sometimes do vile things like that because they are very jealous to the fact that they can't get one, or they think you are trying to be better than everyone else. Sometimes people suck, plain and simple. But you have to prove to be the better man tho in those cases. But put it this way, at least you have more people that like the car compared to those who got nothing else better to do.
