Prime only would be next-gen, several years from now. With lithium battery production increasing and cost decreasing, that's a natural step forward.

Yes I plan to spend tomorrow at the local dealership with my meerschaum pipe and a magnifying glass.

Well it’s more about sleuthing online and seeing what Toyota does with its other products.

after all the fuss by toyota insisting that nigh is more appropriate for cold weather climes, and thus the usage in awd, a switch to lithium would be ridiculous

CarPlay apparently is coming for 2020.

I don't think I'm seeing this in the future. Sport and Prius in the same sentence is a rarity. And as far as luxury, it has less features than many competitors. It is getting pretty much what every other competitor is offering - road nannies, upgraded infotainment, etc.

How much of the 20 years did you watch history unfold from an expectation perspective?

Think about the potential available... there's a lot still.

I still don't see this car morphing into sport/luxury. Maybe a slightly nicer eco-mobile, but not sporty or luxurious.

My brother has Carplay on a 2017 Subaru Outback and his 2018 Clarity Hydrogen. He uses it on neither - buggy on both. I wouldn't delay buying a car just to get this "feature."

You seem to have lost context of the original statement... no longer a family-mover... remember its beginning?

The point is, it will change.

It's as much a family mover as it ever has been. Four doors, hatch, rear seats. It's not an SUV, and that's where the market has headed recently - Ford dropped sedans completely, for example.

That's the history I'm referring to. Some of saw the "recent" trend begin back in 1994, then a massive push into the mainstream back in 2004. What is happening now is that has become the norm, with everything else now an exception or holdback.

I may be dense, but I’m not understanding that reply at all. Once again for the slow guy?

It was buggy on the 2017 Expedition I rented but was ok on the 2017 Murano. Hit and miss I guess.

Oh I also tried it on a 2018 Cruze. It worked fine there too.

I doubt I would really use it much if it requires plugging it in via a cable. Heck there is even talk of removing the lightning port on iPhone.

Good point. Who knows what cable iphone would have in a few years. Juggling between 30 pin to lightning to USB-C cables is not fun. My recent purchase of 2014 SUV came with rear seats entertainment system that will take external AV source. But... it is RCA jack. We have no portable AV player or game console that has RCA output anymore.:(

    Yeah that's a hassle.

The port is a USB-A so it shouldn't matter what the iphone's side is as there will be converters back to USB-A.
