I'm stumbling my way through my CarPlay sony AX100 integration on my Package 5 2011 Prius with e7022 headunit One of the things that has been bugging the crap out of me is I want to retain the factory USB port in the arm rest (aux input not so important) The Sony AX100 gives you a USB female pigtail: I bought the Axxes usb adapter: However this adapter, adapts the harness side to a USB A Male, what I want is the Port Side adapter to a standard USB port Does anyone know if there is such an adapter or has anyone tried to find the physical connector part number? Then at least I can make my own connector. I'm avoiding cutting connectors because it's just my nature to make sure everything is clean and reversible.
I am not sure what you mean? You cannot use the cable you bought to go in between your prius harness and your radio? The opposite of what you have is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-AUX-USB-MP3-Audio-Input-Cable-Adapter-For-Toyota-Camry-RAV4-Corolla-Lexus/231614229161?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
What's a port side adapter? I work in IT industry and delt with more connectors than I'll ever want to Describe it anyway you can, I'll see what I can dig up.
The armrest/center console USB port has the following physical architecture USB/aux port > harness extension to front of center console > harness connection to head unit The extension cable I originally linked to in my OP is the same connector as the USB/aux port connector which means it can interface to the harness section from the radio, rendering the factory usb/aux port jack useless. What I wanted to do is retain the factory USB port and get a converter/adapter from the factory center console extension to a standard usb 2.0 manual connector. This is the rear of the removed USB/aux port Also the other connector the other poster linked to is a different toyota USB adapter. I have bought and returned both. That one is a square connector where as the brown one is rather rectangular. It’s just 4 serial lines so I can always run a harness in between but I wanted to avoid that. I like leaving the factory harness in place and finding the actual pin and connector housing. iPhone ?
I have seen posts in I believe the tundra forum where they just shaved down a regular USB connector to fit. I will look and see if I can find it for you!
Lol that’s what I was thinking about too Hahahha I was just worried it would be very unstable Hahahha! iPhone ?
HOW TO: Tundra USB/Stereo input on Tacoma aftermarket head unit | Tacoma World I think this is it Hahahha ghetto but gets the job done lol iPhone ?
I decided to intercept and split the intermediate factory harness. This is the section that runs underneath the center console from the port to the main harness that connects to the head unit at the front section of the center console. So i cut up the original intermediate and used a molex 4 pin connector, that way in the future if I decide to revert back to stock, I can. Now I have a molex section with a USB 2.0 male that goes to the headunit I also purchased an additional intermediate factory section just in case it bothers me that I cut the original and split it into 2 sections.
