Haven't bought anything for PRIME yet, but I bought oil, transmission fluid, filter, etc. for my other cars from various on-line places like Amazon, Walmart, ebay after comparison. Sometimes cheaper to buy locally in brick and motor store. If you know what you need, you have to do comparison shop. I recently signed up for Wikibuy, but have not bought anything yet.

Just a heads up that the push-button style wiper blade assemblies on the Prime (at least, on my 2017) might be tough to find aftermarket and not fit properly, even if the fit guide indicates a match. I bought Rain-X blades that supposedly fit my car and they were a hair long (tips just rested on the window molding). Ending up getting OEM blades from my Toyota dealer for about the same price.

I ordered a pair of OEM wiper blades and a pair of rubber inserts from an online Toyota dealer parts store a few months after I purchased my PRIME. I am still on my original OEM wiper blades after 20 months. Those OEM wipers are good quality.

Agreed! The OEM wipers last a long long time. And, it you just get the refill (the rubber part), they are super cheap.

As for oil and filters, I usually get them from the dealer. It's closer than Walmart and not that different in price. But last time, I took advantage of a super deal that Mobil 1 was offering and got that at Walmart.

For reference (links to olathe Toyota, but some other places may be cheaper). Don't know if I'm missing anything.

    Wiper Blade Refill, RIGHT: 85214-78010
    Wiper Blade Refill, LEFT: 85214-47110

    Cabin air filter: 87139-28020
    Engine air filter: 17801-21060
    Oil filter: 90915-YZZF2 (spin-on type) | 04152-YZZA6 (cartridge type)
Oil drain bolt crush washer: 90430-12031

I suggest owners input their VIN on the Toyota parts sites so they can narrow down which oil filter they need.

Edit: added the second oil filter type.

Those wiper blade refills are the same as what I paid down the street at out local dealer. IIRC, they had to order one of them but it was in a local warehouse.

On the oil filter, I recently took a peek at mine and a cartridge oil filter. Is yours different?

Haven't actually changed the oil on it yet - I just ran an oil filter search for the 2017 Prime and this came up. From what it looks like, there was a change between filter types mid 2017. I'll add the cartridge type one.

It’s good to clean and wipe off tha blades from time to time, they last longer and do a better job.

For the warranty period I'll always use Toyota oil filters. In the very rare case of an engine warranty claim, I want to take that argument away from them. There is no spec from the engine maker about the oil filters, unlike the industry standard spec for the engine oil. Oil filters are reverse-engineered by the filter makers.

Is there anyway to confirm which oil filter I need without crawling under the car, dropping the shield thing and visually inspecting? I bought my 2017 Prius Prime March 2018.

I’d like to order all the stuff I need but I don’t want to order a batch of the wrong filters.

Why did you buy new blades? The originals will likely last the life of the car, just replace the rubber.

Don't know about the Prime filters but my dealer said the filters for the Gen IIs were good for 15K miles, same as the much more expensive Mobil 1 and similar filters from the auto parts store.

You only need to remove 3 screws on the fourth gen access panel.Roll it up on ramps, or floor jack and onto safety stands, takes 15 minutes start to finish lol.

Just buy filters as you need them, or is that crazy talk?

For 2017 model PRIME, and I think for Gen4, sometime in mid-year there was a change from cartridge type to spin-on type. I can't remember the exact timing of the change. It is based on the production month of your vehicle. PRIME produced later than 2017 Nov use the Spin-on type. I think you can find the production month from your emission placard or door jam plate? If yours is produced sometime later than Nov 2017 chances are it is a spin-on type filter. See this thread: Some observations after doing my own oil change on the Prime | Page 5 | PriusChat

I once had a wiper blade fly off while in use in a very heavy snow storm. In the middle of a snowstorm, this could be a life and death situation. Ever since I always carry spare wiper blades in a car. It is more essential than spare tire IMHO. Replacement rubber is no use when the whole wiper blade fly off from your vehicle while driving.

I checked and I have a build month of 12/17 and the canister style oil filter.

Jealous!! Mine is about 11 months older and still has the cartridge. But, I'll probably only need to change it once or twice a year.
