It's bad bad bad....Is the fender/bumper ok? The replacement parts for the signal module should be around $250, but you can replace it yourself to save some money. Or, would you rather pay deductible, have a Carfax report and increase in insurance premium? The replacement should take less than an hour. I've done the DRL mod for 5 hours on both side, most of the time spent on adding the LED inside the module. Removing / installing that module is relatively easy, especially on the driver side as it has more rooms. Check out the sticky thread under the modification forum, that really helps. Good luck.
I was going to do it through the dealer. Buy the part and have them do it. I cant figure out if its access through the wheel well or the truck.

LOL It should be accessed from the bottom of the vehicle. Simply jet up the front wheels, remove the bolts that hold bottom black plastic cover at the bottom of the fender (6 or 7 screws? one of them also holds the LED module), then unplug the wires harness and remove the other 2 screws that hold the LED module (you can't see the top one but you can use your hand to touch it) with a super short phillips screw driver. Remove the plastic triangle black panel right next to the LED module in front by just popping it off. Then gentling push the LED module back and slide it down. Pulling the fender out a bit (it's plastic so can bend a bit) will help.
Sadly, I'm not sure the "anymore" part is pertinent. People have been looking to see if anyone saw the deed and head out ASAP for a long time.
I don't think it's just respect. Nowadays every single car part is $$$ and on top of it every driver thinks they drive an equivalent of a collectable Ferrari, so even a bumper scratch or a door ding result in such a hassle that it overcomes whatever decency one might have.
