Anyone in the Seattle area willing to hook up and read codes from a 2005 Prius, or let me borrow your dongle/cable/sw? I have the red triangle, and sometimes the (!) and VSC lights. I thought I had cured this by charging the 12V battery, but it's coming back.
I'm nowhere near the Seattle area, but you can get readers online for $5-10 if you just want a cheap solution. The Torque Lite app and Hybrid Assistant are both free and can do a lot. That way you can check codes and even vehicle health on your own, anytime.
What are some readers that work? All the ones I can find any real specs for say they don't work with hybrids.
Depends on what you want to do. In general, any OBD II reader will be able to read the same info as long as the software is smart enough. As long as the reader is an ELM 327 clone, they all do the same thing anyway. If you want more advanced features, Techstream is the way to go, but is very expensive for the properly licensed version, or illegal in the case of the pirated version.
To follow up, this is the code reader I went with: code reader link Works great with Torque Pro. I don't know what the problem was for sure--the warning lights went out when I plugged in the code reader. I assume it's the 12v battery being low, since I had it charging for a couple days.
