Thanks for clarifying, Bob. To date, despite claims to the contrary, no Standard Model 3's have been delivered (the $35,000 car). That is my point. As to the wisdom of buying TSLA, that remains to be seen.
Not too long ago, many were claiming the $35k car wouldn't even be offered. Before that, it was there wouldn't be a Model 3 at all. Criticizing Tesla for not having delivered any $35k that have been ordered is more moving of the goal posts. Next will be criticisms over the arrival of the Model Y among complaints of Tesla's pricing habits. Yeah, I was thinking standard model, not a specific sub-trim to it. The Model 3 was unveiled with the $35k base price announced on March 31, 2016. Adjust for inflation, and that $35k is $36,977.03 to $37,152.34 today, or a couple hundred dollars within the Plus trim. Upgrading a SR to a SR Plus with a discount is a fair deal. CPI Inflation Calculator I don't expect the $35k SR will be around for long. Like how the 40kWh S was delivered to those that ordered it, Tesla is selling the $35k SR for those reservation holders that have waited for it. I even think the SR and Plus have the exact same battery pack, but I think Tesla has a much better profit on the SR3 than the 40kWh S. I'm predicting the $35k model will go away once the reservation holders get their cars. So will the SR Plus. In their place will be a SR3 with 240 miles of range, with standard interior, priced somewhere between the current SR and SR3. That price will cover the cost increases since the $35k announcement, and is in line with the pricing of the other 200+ mile BEVs currently available in the US, which are non-upscale, and lack Supercharger access.
no one sells a lower priced anything until the higher priced demand falls to an unacceptable level. this is just smart business, not because the 35k model is unprofitable. we have rehashed this a million times. if we never see a 35k model, or tesla goes oob before that, let the criticism begin.
Wow!! | Tesla Motors Club The only point is that the 500 already previously mentioned are being delivered, and here's a link to one of them. Of course some will still deny that they are a bunch of Shills - working for Tesla. Let the model Y FUD begin !! .
Here is a YouTube by and about Tesla SHORTs and my take-away is they are immune to customer delight with a product: Bob Wilson
The video mentions of several reasons it thinks the stock is overvalued: “It has nothing real proprietary in terms of technology” Tell that to Apple. Their real secret sauce was their user experience and ecosystem. At the time, lots of fans and little competition for their premium product(s). 15-20 years ago they totally missed that boat and the hoards of cash on it.
I enjoy seeing any comparisons between i3 & Model 3. It would make for a good reference as alternate EV's start to get into peoples Hans over the next 18 months.
The issue is not customer delight. It is the number of future customers and income. My flashback recollections are: InfoSpace, WebVan (HomeGrocer), Pets.com and the CPM operating system. I think if one were to do a "blind taste test" no one would see Tesla as a good bet -- except for shorts.
it's a flyer, no doubt, but there are plenty of them on the street. only for the bold and the beautiful
What is this, 2011 and people talking about Tesla future with the Model S? Tesla bankruptcy is imminent? I have flashback recollections of Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Android operating system. I am a "no one" who has done an open eyes taste test and have invested long in $TSLA as a good bet. If you don't like Tesla as a stock don't invest in it. If you don't like Tesla as a vehicle, then buy some other alternative fuel vehicle, you know, like the Mirai that Toyota makes.
Toyota vs Tesla..... well they both start with T. Do you really want to compare these two companies on who is better LOL!
No, you are the one who wants to compare who is better. Toyota doesn't make a BEV and has no imminent plans to make one, so they can't be compared to Tesla.
Most Americans don’t even know what a BEV is or for that matter a Hybrid. It will take a long time to convince Americans that non ICE power is sensible.
Most Americans don’t even know what a Ford is or for that matter a "car". It will take a long time to convince Americans that non horse and buggy is sensible.
