Hi all, First off -- kudos on the informative site. I did quite a bit of lurking here before placing my order today. In an effort to hopefully get my Prius before the 9/30 tax credit deadline, I've put in an order with my dealer that hopefully will increase my chances of getting things on time. I just ranked the colors in my order of preference, and specified my package as "anything 5 and above" (gotta have that Bluetooth). My sales guy checked with whoever car salesmen check with when they leave their offices, and he said he was told they shouldn't have any trouble getting anything other than the Magnetic Grey in by the end of September. He had a motive though...wanting me to go ahead and put down the deposit (which I did.) I figured I'd ask the experts. I'm in Mobile, AL ... anybody have any guesses as to whether one month is a reasonable turnaround down here in the southeast?
Well, if you really want to hedge your bets, go to the Toyota build a Prius site and find every dealer within a willing travel distance and contact them via e-mail. If you're that open on color and packages you should let all of them know. That way you're sure to have a car before the end of September. You might find a car right on the dealer's lot if you put the work into it.
And hey... if your up to a road trip, fly on up here and buy your car! We've got plenty of 'em here in Maryland! I even know a place where you can get it $1200 off of MSRP to help pay for airfare!
Cool, thanks for the sage advice. We're fairly rural down here but I do have three or four dealers I can press into service. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(M Smith @ Aug 28 2006, 07:52 AM) </div> Oh, don't tell me that... I just moved here from Maryland.
