Does anyone know how this car works with an aftermarket remote start? I know it has got a built-in one, but I'm looking for more range. Would an aftermarket one just activate the same remote start function as this AC button my factory fob, or would it actually put the car into ready mode? I may be wrong, but Id think the car would heat up way faster and better in ready mode then its factory mode? Is this true or am I wrong about that? What about if its plugged into a charger at the time of after-market remote start comes in? I know if you try to local start the car while plugged into power, it will only start in ACC mode, not ready mode.
nothing will start the engine if it's plugged in. any after market will start the engine if it is not plugged in. factory fob will not start the engine
As @bisco said, the remote A/C is not a remote start. It will not start the ICE. And remote A/C only works if there is sufficient charge left in the traction battery. There are some threads on remote ICE starter for PRIME, but the bottom line is that if it is plugged in, it will not start ICE. Read this thread: Remote Engine Starter for Prius Prime | PriusChat
I also assume remote start will stop as soon as the door is open, which seems to happen on all Toyota PTS vehicles after 2009? God I hate that so much.
