Got a text message yesterday on my Model 3 SR ordered 2/28. "Your Model 3 is tentatively scheduled to be delivered on 3/30 between 12 PM-2 PM...". Only 2 days late from the estimated delivery of 2-4 weeks. That's really good for Elon time.
I got my announcement too but there are problems: Failed to change delivery to Brentwood TN (aka., Nashville) after I accepted their trade-in offer. No VIN which makes bank loan and insurance difficult. We'll have a 'come to Jesus' phone call on Monday. Bob Wilson
This week I visited delivery center holding lots in Atlanta and Ft. Lauderdale. Attendants there told me they are doing all day deliveries and as many as 40/day on the weekend. One concerning thing I noticed while looking over at least 200 Model 3's, is poor (sometime very poor) body panel fitment. Hoods with uneven gaps all around, doors that don't line up with fenders or each other at the bottom, trunk gaps uneven, headlights, & door handles overly recessed. I though they'd gotten these issues resolved. Its a real shame to have such a nice looking car design and not make the effort to put it together right. Really is unacceptable. Hyundai's are perfect these days, why can't Tesla get the body panels consistent ? If mine's not perfect, I'm refusing it. From what I saw, less than 1 in 10 were acceptable.
Tesla does poor fit n finish because they don't have it dialed in yet - and they are swamped with orders. That's an advantage of buying a cpo. You get to see it beforehand. .
Ok this is more like Elon, was too good to be true that would get the car only two days after promised window. Just got this text message this afternoon: “Our apologies, we will need to reschedule your delivery appointment to a later date.A Tesla representative will reach out when we have a better estimate of your delivery timing.”
I think we have 24 hours to inspect the car after delivery. I’ve had some friends and colleagues who got model 3s with similar issues so will have to watch out for all of this.
it might be that the "come & get it" notice is days late because they have to get fit & finish up to Snuff. Might be better just to let them take their time. One less wasted back & forth trip possibly. .
