Does the 2019 Prius XLS support sirius xm radio? Want to know if built-in for XLE or do you have to buy a kit? Found this on web Certain models feature built-in SiriusXM* radio technology which simply requires a current subscription. Certain models offer SiriusXM-compatibility which requires the purchase of an installation kit (includes receiver, antenna, and wire harness). Installation kits can be purchased at your local dealership Satellite radio-capable vehicles come with a 3-month trial period. After the 3-month trial period has ende
It’s not built in, if that’s what you mean. In the sales brochure (PDF), on page 17, only the Limited model is listed as having “Entune Premium JBL Audio with Integrated Navigation and Entune App Suite,” which includes “SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 3-month All Access trial.”
Wonder if its possible to add satellite radio somehow. I really prefer not to get the nav system but really want xm radio. Thanks
I don’t think the situation has changed much since I discussed this in February 2017. The most cost-effective option is probably to have a car stereo shop install a third-party kit.
I made my dealer install a conversion unit http://tinyurl.com/y63kcmu8 (at their cost) BEHIND the vehicle's radio before accepting delivery of my 2019 XLE a couple of weeks ago. The only negative is that they had to also attach the barely noticeable antenna on the roof next to the stock sharkfin antenna. Works fine.
Adding satellite radio to models without it is it's sole purpose. It also adds a SiriusXM app logo to the screen in addition to the AM, FM and CD logos.
I am looking to buy a 2019 Prius XLE and want both navigation and Sirius XM radio. Do I have to have both of these installed? How do I know if the car has the capability to have these two things? I am buying from Enterprise and not a dealer so I’m worried that I can’t get these things. Anyone have any suggestions?
Ellyn, 2019 Prius XLE models do NOT come equipped with either navigation OR Sirius XM radio. It is possible to retrofit them with Sirius XM aftermarket radio capability. See my October 13th post #5 above. Only the 2019 Prius Limited models have built-in navigation. Prius XLE models do not. Your best bet is using your smartphone with a free navigation app such as Google Maps http://tinyurl.com/y7zlzjdr or Waze Driving Directions, Traffic Reports, and Carpool Rideshares by Waze. Waze is owned by Google. They are always updated automatically over the nearest cellphone towers at no cost, whereas built-in systems are almost always out of date after the vehicle leaves the factory. Toyota's updates are available for a fee, and have to be performed manually. You'll want to use any type of widely available mount to hold your phone where you can see the screen. Keeping it plugged in will save battery power while driving.
