I should have ridden that all the way from Winnipeg and saved myself the hassle of driving 17 hours. LOL

I've never understood gas cap cover modifications:confused::confused::confused: That being said, at least a hood will be built around it to match. (y)(y)(y)

    AWESOME!

So today I took my gen3 for an oil change. I let the local quick lube do a fast oil change before I drove 3200 miles last week. Well when I tried to get it changed on this end, they got the oil filter stuck on.

It's torqued on there SO HARD a two and a half foot wrench couldnt get it off. I need some ideas on how to get the damn thing off.

Maybe I should :( We put so much force on it to try to get the filter off one of the metal bits on the housing snapped off, and another bent. They must have put blue loc tite on the damn thing before they cracked it down with the Hulk.

I'm generally not a fan of most Do it your self mods/painting stock parts or universal items on a car but I think the reason it seems out of place it the small mods like this compliment a more modified car. on a mostly stock car it really seems kinda out of place.

On another note once he has more things done to this thing it's gonna be awesome. I never get to see the blue color prius modifed very often

If you can’t get it off, you can always swap to the spin on type filters;).

I believe it is 3-5 bolts and then your swapped :).

I know @Rebound did this mod as his original suffered a similar fate:cool:.

Lord knows we’ve had our fair share of over torqued oil filter housings. We had one that refused to come off. We ended up removing the hole housing & using a torch to heat it up till it budged. The plastic cap was demolished in the process but we usually have a few in stock.

Or nows a good time for the oil filter housing mod.

Sure your spinning it counter clockwise? :)
I'm removed stubborn filters sometimes by keeping firm pressure on it and hitting the breaker bar with a hammer.
Similar to an impact wrench. It hasn't always worked, but worth a try.
I don't torque mine at all. There is that clip that will keep the housing from backing out.
I turn the housing with a small ratchet until it stops, then snug it. And the clip seems to fall into the correct position.
I've changed the oil about 8 times, maybe more, and when the engine is hot, the filter housing is harder to brake free.
But when it's cold, it brakes free easier. So maybe it expands more than the aluminum which makes it tighter.
Have you tried removing it when it's cold?

Sheer morbid curiosity caused me to buy a “Microfiber Clay Towel”. Pro Elite brand name, we just added them to the wash and wax aisle at my work. I clay toweled the hood as a test at lunch, so I did the rest of the car when I got home. All I can say is wow! I didn’t realize there was so much junk stuck to the paint. When it’s light tomorrow, if
It’s not raining I’ll take a pic of the result.

Came across some pretty interesting spoilers for the car. Not super serious on getting one but the Aero looking one looks pretty cool but also sort of like space cyclops
