<SMUG> I'm celebrating my 500th post today along with my 70.4MPG 607.9 mile tank! I would like to say that the 70mpg mark was one of my goals for next year but I guess it came early. I did kind of cheat a little. Every day after work I would drive an extra 10-15 miles on a 40mph 4 lane road doing lots of P&G for practice. Traffic was light at the times I was driving so no one got too PO. The road I used was not the best for P&G but the only flat road with a 40mph limit. It was about 2.5 mile long and I could stop for a total of 3 times but I mostly timed the lights just right. I also filled up early with 2 pips left. I filled up early for a few reasons. 1. Gas was $2.699 and I could not pass that up. 2. The weather man said its going to rain the next few days and I knew that would drop me back down below 69. and 3. I wanted that picture of 70.4MPG!!! My goals for next year include a 700+ mile tank and 80+MPG tank. My life long goal is 100+MPG tank. I would like to thank everyone that made this site possible and all of those that explained the P&G very well. FREE BEER FOR ALL! Just hit your TAB key and have a glass ready. </SMUG> Oh and a little more smug in my sig. || || || \/
Well, at least you did not hire a truck to tow you up the hill so you can drive back down every day.
WOW!!! And im setting a goal of 55 mpg! so far best is 51.5 after 4 fill ups.I dont think ill get much better than that on my work travel route, unless longer travel on idea travel roads.Way to go!! Force PS happy 500th! ive read your comments on pc and your a true prius fan and a good help to others.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tadashi @ Aug 25 2006, 07:21 PM) </div> Hmmmmmm.....hadn't thought about this one....Hmmmmmmm..... Waytogo, theforce!!! I'll never get there, but love to hear these stories...my goal is to hit 50mpg for a tank!! terri
What a wonderful feeling!!! Congratulations. With my last tank I also reached a goal--joining the 700 mile on one tank club. Looks like it will be two in a row. Twice I reached 70 MPG plus on entire tanks [with two bars/pips left] and know what you just accomplished.
Wow, just....wow. My goal is to beat the EPA with a 55 tank. My best is 52. Right now I can't seem to get above 48. I think the only way I'll be able to do it is quit my job.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Godiva @ Aug 25 2006, 10:59 PM) </div> I'm still trying to beat 50 and have also thought about quitting my job for a longer commute. Or I could just find a much longer route leading to better mileage and more time in my Prius.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ Aug 25 2006, 06:14 PM) </div> DANG  I am following instructions and nothing happens. I am hitting that dang TAB key for all its worth and still no beer. I'm bummed In anycase, congrats. You done good. p.s. yes, I did have my glass ready. A really cold one right out of the freezer. Only thing that I can think of is TonyPSchaefer drank it all up.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Aug 25 2006, 10:19 PM) </div> NO don't delete that thread! I need something to laugh at when I get out of bed in the mornings! Just kidding! I think I need to post a congratulations over there. I think anything over 50mpg is GREAT! but thats only because my last car only saw about 25mpg and I wanted my next car to have twice the mileage. Getting high numbers is all about where you live and how you drive. Plus a little luck from the weather. If your getting %5 below EPA in your Prius i'm willing to bet you got %5 below EPA on your old car. Thats just my guess anyway. I think the key to my 70.4mpg tank was learning the traffic flow and how the traffic lights are timed. I also think my caps, front and rear spoiler, and mobil1 5w30 helped out a little. I plan to go with mobil1 0w20 on my next oil change. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Three60guy @ Aug 25 2006, 11:56 PM) </div> Hmmmmm. It looks like the internet tubes are all clogged up with porn and gambling. I'll fix it in the morning.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(theforce @ Aug 25 2006, 11:01 PM) </div> Well thanks but who the heck is gonna need it "in the morning"? Get it fixed now for heavens sake. What are your priorities?
Way to go! And to think I'm just happy when I get over 35 MPG. Imagine how ecstatic I would be if I got your mileage! PRIUS: 45-50 MPG HyCam: 35-42 MPG Both with better rims/tires then stock, and with no real concentrating on the mileage... I'm happy.
