I purchased a 2001 Prius in fantastic condition. The only issue is that it did not have the remote unlock fob and only came with master key. I have researched getting a keyless entry fob and how to program this, bought a fob off eBay (HYQ12BAN as indicated by many forums), but I have gone through the programming steps several times and the fob will not work. The car does go into programming mode but after I have simultaneously pressed the lock and unlock buttons for a second and then just the lock button, nothing happens. I have also changed the battery in the fob. Can anyone help? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Does the 2001 offer this? Are you talking about the Chicken Dance? I remember it wasn't working for me as well. I think I had to modify a few steps involving pressing the keys on the fob to get it to work. I would try messing around with that step if you can.
