<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(shawn7 @ Aug 13 2006, 11:27 PM) </div> Guitar is my primary instrument, but have been known to plan mandolin and 5 string banjo when I really want to annoy the neighbors). My wife's three favorite jokes: How do you stop a mandolin player from playing ... put sheet music in front of him.( <_< The definition of a gentleman; someone who knows how to play a banjo, but doesn't. The difference between a mandolin and a mandola ... the mandola burns longer.
I am a professional musician and educator. I play keyboards, teach music and drama at a private school and also teach voice. I have been a church organist for many years. I can fit my electric keyboard and all I need for a gig in the back of the Prius but have not found out yet how to get a pipe organ in there! My big love is musical theater.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(toph @ Aug 13 2006, 11:26 PM) </div> Yes! Great band though we're not doing any Moody Blues tunes. Like the license plate...you're lucky we only get 6 letters/numbers. I managed to snag "WAYK-UP." Positive. Progressive. Thought provoking.
My whole family is all about music. My wife plays oboe (Principal for the New Philharmonia Orchestra in Newton, MA). My brother plays a mean classical guitar and also moonlights in a rock band. My mother sings a mean opera and teaches voice. My sister plays pipe organ, and has had the chance to fondle many an organ around the world (ha ha... wait, that's my sister you're talking about). My father is a Luthier, which is to say that he makes all manner of stringed instruments for a living, but mostly violins and cellos, and he helped me make an electric guitar back in the day (which is admittedly not as difficult as making a viloin). He also plays with a chamber group for fun. Which leaves me... I have the usual amount of training on piano (not much) and I've played with my guitar a bit. I like to sing mostly, and my voice is on a total of 1 published choral music CDs. I've composed and played/sung music for at least two of my own short films. I'd be more into music if my time weren't so totally consumed by visual arts, but there are a lot of things I'd do if there were 60 hours in a day (other than taking a 9 hour nap at 27 O'clock ).
I'm a percussionist. Right now my specialties include the steering wheel and my desk at work. Hopefully soon I'll be able to get back to "real" percussive instruments.
I am a Keyboardist, I play in a local band here in this small city. We are a combo of Death metal, Black metal, Classical/Theatrical/Epic Music the Classical/Theatrical/Epic is where I come in
I play guitar (acoustic) and piano (electric). Mostly folky type stuff. Sing and play in a couple of local groups and like to sing for groups of kids (I know a few kid songs .
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TJandGENESIS @ Aug 9 2006, 01:19 AM) </div> Lots of musicians here. I have been a church organist for years. Mary
Yep. Piano, taking lessons (classical). Play classics, showtunes and oldies. Love the silence in the Prius when I stop at a red light...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(withersea @ Aug 8 2006, 02:28 PM) </div> Drummer for 46 years now, but never pursued anything other than a few small garage bands for fun. Play guitar, bass, keyboard too and digitally home record now and then, but not enough time due to golf or bass fishing.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(toph @ Aug 13 2006, 08:26 PM) </div> I'm a comedy cabaret singer with a very eclectic mix of music in my show. Also play piano and clarinet, but not on a regular basis. I bought my Prius for touring - it holds my costume case, set pieces, director and boyfriend and all their stuff too. I even have a chaise lounge on wheels for entrances and exits (pulled by dancers) that amazingly fits in the car. I was going to test drive a Honda hybrid after checking out the Prius, but after seeing the hatchback and all the storage space, I just set my sites on the Prius and was able to buy it 8 months later. Absolutely love the car and use the GPS extensively when we're in a strange town. I have Jamba Juices and Baja Fresh's all over California lined up on it!
Uh, cello and double bass - classical. I play in two community orchestras, cello in one and bass in the other (first rehearsal for the season is tonight) and chamber music for fun. Galaxee, you have to find time for some chamber music - it soothes the soul.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(withersea @ Aug 8 2006, 03:28 PM) </div> Ex-Band Director/Drummer..... 4 years of college (which took me 6 1/2....don't ask ) Play guitar and some drum stuff as a 'hobby' now.
Two musicians in our Prius. I am a pianist and choral singer. Wife teaches private students piano (Masters in Piano Performance). Interesting: We both sing in the Plano Civic Chorus (Texas - Dallas suburb). Of 110 singers, four drive Prius and three of those are Driftwood. Soon to change: I have ordered a 2007 Touring RED Package 6.
I was a voice major and have a Bachelors in Arts in Music. I taught music for 17 years, mostly in Junior High and then switched to self-contained sixth grade. Now I'm the school librarian. I still sing in the car, occasionally.
