Isolation P0AA6 All cells tested 7.62 and up

    Hello. I am new to this form. I have the triangle of death on my 2008 Toyota prius

    I have taken everything apart and I see where the isolation fault could be coming from, But all my battery tested good although one or some are leaking. Is it possible to clean that area put everything back together and i should be fine? or should i just replace those batteries where the leak seems to have occurred?

    What type of OBD2 code reader are you using, if your reader is hybrid compatible you should also be able to pull the associated INF (sub code) for the above posted DTC P0AA6. Knowing the INF's (sub codes) make isolating the problem of known DTC's (primary codes) much easier.

    If the battery is out and you've noticed leaks then it would be a good idea to clean everything up before putting it back together again. Don't over torque the nuts on the battery modules.

    You can use a megohmmeter to confirm where the leak is prior to removing the modules.
    You should always replace leaking modules as well as clean up any spilled electrolyte as well.

    Best way to scrub leaked electrolyte/ corrosion off the battery case? I load tested all the cells and didn’t find any abnormal discharge rates. I’m going to assume what happened is the guy just replaced the bad cells before and didn’t clean the case.

    I used hybrid automotive’s light bulb tester and timed each cell for 2 minutes and collected the speed of discharge

    Are you sure the P0AA6 is from the battery? You can check if the battery pack is original by looking at the serial number, they should all be very similar. If any of the serial numbers are way off, those would be replacement modules

    Pretty sure the repair manual has a very lengthy write up on how to methodically go through and isolate each system, checking as you go to find the leak.

    Sorry, I don't have a PDF of the procedure, but it is a good resource. You check the wires, the cables, the modules, the case, the relays, etc.

    If you had a leaky battery wouldn’t have voltage between the bad battery and the case? Some voltage from the positive terminal when grounded to the case?
