Looks like some aftermarket stuff. May be Navigation / Video bypass? (Beatsonic: Beat-Sonic NT0202 Navigation and DVD Control Bypass Module Combo)
If it’s a bypass you might not notice anything until you try typing an address or using an option that is usually grayed out while in motion.
Hummm? Trunk release??? There is no trunk release on PRIME. Oh, you mean the Hood release. I don't know what it is, but it sure is not an OEM parts. Did you buy the car used?
Good catch, Salamander. Not only did I say the wrong release, I also have a 2018, not a 2017. We sold the 2017 and bought the 2018 because Colorado's tax credit is substantial. I did buy it new and got a hold of my salesperson who has no idea what it is either. If it matters, the car came from Boise, but was purchased in Eugene.
You bought it new and the sale person do not know what this switch is for??? That is bizarre. If it's brand new, it has to be dealer installed option. It does not look like OEM work by Toyota. Let us know if you find out what it is.
I googled, and this article came back on the top. Never Buy a Car Alarm From a Dealership - The Truth About Cars I hope you did not pay for the dealer added alarm which is worthless according to the article.
