Hello there, I can't find this anywhere on the manual, but i remember my dealer saying with the SKS, if you walk more than 30 feet away from the car, it automatically locks. I keep forgetting to ask my dealer, i figure i would post it here. Is this true? if so, how do you set it?

For me the most imprtant thing on a keyless system is to lock the door when you leave the car. French Car manufacturer RENAULT include this on all keyless system, and that's very good. Sometimes with the Fob command, i forget to close the door... so an autolock fonction will be really a good idea.
My dealer said the same thing - the car would auto lock itself if I didn't press the handle/hatch and walked away. But its not happening.
Dealers are perhaps the most uninformed people about cars, as sad as it sounds. The car won't lock itself, you have to do something (with the SKS, push the black button on the handle, without either use the metal key, or press the button on the FOB). Did your dealer also misinform you that the "B" on the shifter was for battery mode? Seriously, Toyota really needs to make an effort to correct some of these dealer misconceptions.
It's sorta close, but if you use the fob to unlock and don't touch the car for 30 seconds, it re-locks. My wife's been caught with that several times.
Pushing one of the little black buttons just becomes second nature in a short time. I don't think I could forget it now. When I drive my old pickup I find my self looking for the little button when I park it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Gilles @ Nov 6 2006, 10:41 AM) </div> Renault is usually ahead in this field. They were the first with central locking and the first with this card-type keyless entry system.
I have another question on the SKS. I understand there are three options for keyless entry, but none of them seem very secure. What I mean is that ideally I would like to see an option where only the drive door is unlocked by using the drive door door handle. The reason I am concerned is that if my wife walks up to the car, someone could grab the passenger side door handle and get in the car. There does not seem to be a way to avoid this with the current three options. My only other option at this point is to disable the SKS, which means we would have to insert the fob into the dash. Not a huge deal, but I can't understand why a more secure option with the SKS is not available.
