So I purchased the carista and downloaded the app. to only find out its a subscription based service *roll eyes* has anyone used anything else? I would like to remove the reserve beeping sound with out ....a year sub subscription Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The first month of service is free. Make all the settings changes, cancel the subscription before the free period expires. Then your net cost is the $20 for the adapter.
Anyone in the Austin area, I have one, feel free to reach out if you are wanting to borrow it/get set up with all your favorite settings.
Dr. prius is now supporting the Gen4 ( experimental ) the option for the reverse beep is available and free Dr. Prius / Dr. Hybrid - Bluetooth OBD2 - Apps on Google Play
I use OBDLink® LX Bluetooth | OBDLink® | OBD Solutions and used Prius Tweak app to change the reverse beep. Though after testing, I actually liked constant beep, so I turned it back on. However, I did leave the passenger seatbelt alert off. I use it for other OBEII apps for diagnostics and logs. If all you want to do is to change reverse beep and other customizable features, and do not need to use it for monitoring or reading codes, as @jb in NE suggested, change all of them within 30 days and cancel your subscription. Even if you need to use it again, for example, change the tire and program TPMS, you can buy short 7 days subscription for $10.
OK, WHY do you like the constant beeping? I think if we took a poll, there would be very few voting to keep it. For tire change and TPMS I just stop by my local mechanic. Free. He doesn't think his machine will kill the reverse beeper though.
Yap, after changing to a single beep, both I and my wife preferred constant beeping over a single beep when in reverse. We are those few.
Yeah, after reading almost every PRIUS owners complaining about the "reverse beep", I wanted to try how much of difference it would make if I changed to a single beep. The reverse beep never bothered me or my wife when we were driving Gen3, and it also did not on PRIME. When I changed to a single beep, my wife complained that it did not beep enough. I kinda agreed. It is a slow rhythmical beep we both find soothing for reverse speed unlike rapid succession beep of seat belt warning.
I just want to enable auto window rolling from the smart key. It's an option in the owner's manual. But they say take it to the dealer to activate. Carista can activate it too and maybe I'm being overly cheap, but I bought this car and its a built in function, why do I have to pay to enable it?
My dealer did it for free. I just asked while in to get routine service. My wife got her Prime delivered that way.
I hope mine is cool. The dealership by me seems to want to make a buck off everything. They don't even have complimentary drinks in the waiting room. Sadly, the place I bought it from is 1hr away or I'd just go there
Ours it's trying to go "upscale". They have a food/ coffee counter with a barista and valets that bring you your car. A little over the top for me, but that's probably why they charge. I prefer dealerships like you're talking about with free coffee/ water and maybe a cookie or something. I don't need a wannabe Starbucks. I'm trapped there waiting for my car for ~1hr, hook me up with some water. Tempted to get Carista, but I literally only want to make one change. I was able to disable the reverse beep with Torque Pro and it lets you do other stuff too, just no ones posted the correct PID to alter the remote windows as far as I know.
