I am encountering an increasing frequency where my SATNAV is out of date,, and not recognising relatively new routes etc.

Can I update the SATNAV data without paying Toyota's expensive rate; for free perhaps?

I assume this 'data update' (Maps/POI's etc) is achieved by accessing an SD card?

Is that SD card easy to both find and update using my Laptop??

I look forward to receiving any good advice available out there.

    Many thanks for your time.

    Regards

    CJL

…just one more reason to use google maps (it's always up to date and requires no expensive upgrades!)

In answer to the question, if you've got the 7 inch LCD display nav unit that was used in 2010-11 with the CD changer behind the display, the slot for the map DVD is behind there too.

Starting with 2012, the Denso 7" unit has a hard drive and is updated at the dealer using a USB stick, whereas the Entune units with the smaller display and visible CD slot use an SD card.

    Thanks Guys.

I'll persevere, and of course I can always use 'existing close by locations' and wing it from there etc.

    Thanks again.

If you guys and girls need any maps, let me know

I do map updates, we only need to figure out what satnav you have

Most units built after 2012 are being updated via USB + activation code
