i Have an opportunity to buy a high mileage gen 2 Prius I am sure the hybrid pack will need some love - and in general a basic stage 0 oil change - plugs filters and such gearbox oil - 300k for $500 I love a deal and to get me Into a hybrid I’m game.
Thank you I love tinkering and honestly it’s a large RC car so I’ll be fine Looking forward to the mileage and modding it
Sounds like you can do the work yourself. That’s good. Here are some battery links for you. Gen II Prius Individual Battery Module Replacement | PriusChat
Welcome! Is the car actually running / driveable? If so, does it have any warning lights? There are many experienced members on this forum (not me, but two of them have already replied). Do you have any diagnostic tools to plug into the OBD-2 port (it is inside the cabin but hidden); not urgent but will be invaluable for troubleshooting problems early and fixing them early!) Let us know how the car goes; congratulations for getting this car (the most environmentally friendly car on the planet, and actually very easy to fix, with lots of spares available - with advice and information from this forum). Please PM me if you have any questions, but please post questions first - I have limited experience having driven a Prius for several years, but having done little work on them - because they are so reliable!
Hello! Following to see suggestions. I am also brand new here, and about to purchase my first Prius. It also has high-mileage (225k), and I know nothing about cars in general other than I have wanted a hybrid for SO long!
Happy to report- The HV is assembled and 12 V charged up and car has been running for about 3 fill ups- Minor issues - No Dome, Radio, Smart Key functions - And combo meter keeps flaking on me - also resets nightly - no ODO is being stored. Its returning 42mpg and battery gets to green levels and maintains a decent top 3 bars on batt- Heat and AC work The car has easily 350k if not more. Oil change later and spark plugs and all filters were changed and car really likes the 5w30 Philips Shield - I need to drain the gearbox fluid- and do a coolant valve change- keep getting p1121 code.
