It’s that time again to buy new tires. Went to Les Schwab today and got quoted $660 for a set of 4 Bridgestone. Perfection tire quoted me around $450 for Toyos and Costco about the same for Michelin. Not quite sure what to get. Anyone have any ideas? I’m in CDA, ID so all season are important. Also I have 185/65 15 on there and LS told me I needed 195/65 15 ‍♂️

    Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I got the Yokohama Avid Ascend and they are terrible (previously had Michelin Defenders). They are not confident at all in wet weather.

I'd just order the General Altimax RT43 (Despite the brand name they are a Continental brand for cheaper passenger car tires so they are good).

These tires are raved about for their traction and lifespan while being LRR (they are not officially LRR). A solid mix.

You can easily get them online and drop ship them to yourself and take them anywhere to get installed for about $60-80. Even Sam's Club will install tires you bring yourself ($20 each install fee, free lifetime rotation).

Yeah c'mon: if you want meaningful responses, specify the tire.

Now is probably the worst time to buy tires unless you desperately need them since Winter is almost over.

You can safely drive in wet weather down to 2/32 or 3/32" tread life

For snow driving you generally want 5/32 or 6/32 left.

Buying tires right now (default is 11/32 or 12/32 depending on brand) you are just going to needlessly wear down the tread in summer shortening their useful winter lifespan. Wait until next fall, the prices won't change much.

OP: You mentioned Costco, so I'll assume that you're a member. Every month, Costco will have either their Michelins or Bridgestones on sale. Right now, Michelins are on sale for $70 off. The next sale for Bridgestone Ecopias will probably start around March 6th. I'm guessing the Bridgestone Ecopia sale will allow you get get 4 tires at slightly less than $400 (pretax).

More editorial comment: Costco sells both Bridgestone Insignia EP422 Plus, and Insignia EP20.

I replaced the OEM Michelin Energy tires that were well worn but still usable. Hydroplaning was occurring when pushed hard.
Put on Michelin Premiers and wet traction is unquestionable. Mileage is steady at 5.5 l/100k over 4.7 before.
X-ice snows in winter, same mileage!
    No regrets.
