We'll find out soon. I've been wanting this thing for a while but the price for a brand new of $3,000 get me away from it for a while but I found it used and I don't care that it's slightly beat up

There's much misinformation about the "new" exhaust law.

There is no change in law about if you can modify a exhaust and how loud it can be.

it's always been you can still modify as long as it's 95db or below.

What has changed is it is no longer correctable. Also the fine is NOT $1000 but $193.

 

As far as I know the new law is that you not only have to correct the installed exhaust, but you will be cited a $1,000 fine. Just having an aftermarket exhaust now gives the Police a reason to pull you over and determine the loudness of the exhaust which is at the discretion of the officer. No measureing devices are being used. Several weeks ago Irvine PD made a raid of a car meet citing vehicles with after market exhaust and cited 56 vehicles at $1,000 a pop!

 

Up to $1,000 fine so it’s subjective. It used to be a fix it ticket now you must show up in court for a hearing and pay up. If you don’t restore it back to stock or get it below 95 db, and get pulled over again, another fine and another day in court. To officially get it approved, some kind of gov official has to inspect your exhaust and sign off.

In no way does this scare deter me wanting to put on this exhaust i always wanted.

Just add it to list of another thing I can be cited/pulled over full including

Limo Tint
Too Low
No front plate
No carb approved intake

and now exhaust soon

Bumper got a little love tap today. Sucks.

I'm not gonna file a claim for something this minor since no one was injured. The lady that hit me let me take photos of ours cars, her drivers license, and insurance. I didn't give her any of my info other than my email address. She also gave me her phone number and Paypal'd $300 that I processed immediately.

Hope I'm making the right call

 

yeah 300$ cash and no ding to your insurance is a win. you can buy painted eBay bumpers for 200$ but with such minor damage I would keep the cash

Well, knowing our luck, an Exhaust modified Prius is more likely to be ticketed than the hundreds of exhaust modified Suburu's, Dodge Charger and Challengers, Ford Mustangs, Chevy Camaros, Honda's............................................

 

$300 will only cover painting a new bumper cover. Another $200 for an OEM bumper cover. You don’t want aftermarket, they don’t fit as well.

 

I have never had an issue with aftermarket. had both bumpers on my 04 replaced prepainted from eBay and they matched perfectly. also replaced a few for co-workers from eBay. no issues
