Okay so this is going to be a weird question. On the "new to me" 2017 Prius Four, it really appears as if the hood isn't all the way closed. From the front nose to the hood when closed, there appears to be a 1/4" rise where I'd expect it to be flush (and where it's flush on the 2012).

So the questions - Is this normal? Is the hood latch adjustable in the vertical? If I press down on the hood it will go flush, but the latch just seems to be a little higher than it should be.

The carfax on this car says no incidents, so I'm making a big assumption that this isn't re-build related, though none of the other gaps around the front bumper seem off in any way.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

    Should be perfectly flush.

Kind of what I figured. Anyone know if it's adjustable?

The adjustment procedure and standard clearance measurements for the hood are in the Repair Manual (more info), under Vehicle Exterior: Door/Hatch: Hood. At the front of the car, the surface of the hood, for example, is supposed to be flush with the bumper cover, within -1.85 to 2.15 mm, and the gap between the hood and the bumper cover is supposed to be 1.85 to 5.85 mm.

The hinge bolts, hood lock bolts, and hood bumper cushions are all adjustable; if adjustments at the bolts are needed, the centering bolts used in the assembly plant supposedly must be replaced with standard ones. If the front end of the hood is too high, though, you may just need to turn the left and right bumper cushions.

Thanks! I'll see if I can address it with the bumper cushions. Otherwise I just wanted to see if the latch mechanism is adjustable before taking the plastic trim off for better access. It sounds like it so if I have to go that route I will.

    Thanks again!!

Mine is flush with the bodywork but there is a good 1/4" gap at the front edge of the hood showing the rubber seal.

Nownow, did you find a way to adjust the hood? I have the same issue. I can push down on the hood to make it flush. It sits about a 1/4 inch too high. I looked at the spot where the hood latch locks shot, and I didn’t see any oval type holes to adjust/slide the latch down. If I can push the hood down, then I don’t think it’s the bumpers.

That's the Parking Light (called Side light in some countries I think).

Oh, Hm, mine doesn't seem to do that or maybe I've just never looked closely enough? Out to the garage to find out lol

So I have one with the parking lights on and one with the headlights and parking lights on, but it doesn't seem to match the illuminated portion in the other picture that was posted. I was thinking their picture showed some sort of daytime running light or something. Maybe it has to do with different country requirements, or it could just be an optical illusion in the picture that makes the surround part look illuminated with white light (as opposed to the orange light in my picture of the parking/side marker lights) 20190413_214720.jpeg 20190413_214749.jpeg

No, it's white light. Must be a regional difference, I think it's been mentioned before. Lots of things in PRIUS are different depending on which continent you're on. Middle East get Full Size Spare Wheels!!!!! We have global window UP & DOWN - USA only gets DOWN.

Australian L-R 1) Headlight, 2) Parking Light, 3) FOG light with Parking Lights, 4) DRLs.

1,2 and 3 bring on rear lights, DRLs don't - which is dumb. If I'm on the Motorway, I put "2" on - the parking lights with tail-lights rather than DRLs - I like to be seen from behind.
