After submitting my vehicle purchase satisfaction survey to Toyota where I complained about entune being the worst thing ever, they contacted me and let me know it wasn't going to ever be upgraded to CarPlay. With that in mind I was looking at how to replace the car stereo and was wondering if anyone else has in a 2017-2018 prius prime with 7" screen. From what I can tell using these parts from Maestro: (main unit) https://amzn.to/2Wywtjs (harness for prime) https://amzn.to/2MNO4iJ (USB harness) https://amzn.to/2ta8xWl Will make the steering wheel and other built in car functions remain working with the stereo. The stereo I had in mind is: https://amzn.to/2TrLlOL And for the din kit: Metra Online Is there anything I am missing? Has anyone done this?
What is that part number for? Also I don't consider crutch field as my number one source of info. They don't sell the din kit for a prius prime or the maestro main unit.
Here it is 2024 and I am having the same dilemma and found your thread @dcantat. What was the verdict. I just had a long conversation with Best Buy today and seems that this Maestro ready Kenwood double din unit might do the trick - with all the necessary wire harnesses of course. Kenwood - 6.8" Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Bluetooth Digital Media (DM) Receiver and Maestro Ready - Black ModelMX7709S SKU:6516336 My main curiosity if the radio will loose things like notifications from the car that might normally pop up on the OEM radio. Thanks for any feedback you have.
