FYI I am considering the following rotor for application on my 07 Gen 2 Prius Page Title: Toyota Prius Toyota Corolla Chevy Prizm Brake Rotors Pros Still trying to determine Cons Unknown Only driven vehicles with cast steel rotors.... so steel clad aluminum rotor is new All critical thinking and thoughts are welcome and thanks in advance
$230 seems expensive. Not like stock wears out fast. Regenerative braking saves brake pads and rotors. I guess if you have money to burn.
The only benefit I can imagine would be the reduction of unsprung wait which will improve your ride by a very small amount. I can’t possibly see that as being worthwhile considering the cost. What makes you interested in these?
Just get your old ones cut and take the money you save and put it in the bank. You will need it for another repair sometime. The little weight saved won’t make the car preform better. The Prius was never built for preformance, only gas savings.
You can get a brake kit including 2 rotors and brake pads from RockAuto for < $70. I would give you a link ... but I don't qualify yet. Sorry.
I love Rock Auto, but for the brake pads I would go with the Toyota ones on a Prius. The brakes don’t operate the same way as a regular car. Cheap pads would probably rot away or you would have moisture problems.
Inexpensive is not the same as cheap. RockAuto parts are so inexpensive because of the amount of business they do and their general lack of retail-type overhead. They're not lacking in any quality. Monday afternoon I picked up 2 filters from Toyota; a cabin air and an engine air. They were 2 of the flimsiest filters I've ever seen. They were in OEM Toyota boxes ... so Im sure they would have charged top $$$. I'm just sayin'.
Plenty of the stuff they sell lacks in quality. I try to buy the OE stuff from them. I never touch the super cheap stuff they sell. And they sell OEM Denso filters on RockAuto.
We've all got our opinions. The parts I referenced are Power Stop. They are just fine for OE replacement parts. Buy what makes you happy. That's why we have the cars we have. They make us happy.
