    Hello all,
Newb here. One month ago bought a single owner dealer maintained 2008 Prius with 112,550 miles.
    Enjoy learning from this community!
Love the car so far. I do enjoy wrenching and am a car enthusiast. I will post questions and also try to help with (relevant) experience to the group.

Purchased Yokohama Avids, have cleaned headlight housings (oxidation) and put foam into the radiator air intakes to keep things well.

Will be replacing the 12 volt battery very soon-the old one measures 10.9 volts using car self diagnostic test after sitting all night. Mileage is around 49 mpg.

Replied the Mobility battery thread to make sure my selection will work...

    Best,
    Mattie (a.k.a. Griswald)

Great year, and with your abilities, you should get many trouble free miles.

One thing i'd say is to check your trunk area for any water leaks, which gen 2 sometimes have. Water can get in from micro cracks around the hatch back or in my case, a loose tailight screw was lose enough for water to seep in, and pool in the 12v battery compartment.

I bought a new Toyota battery at the dealer on Saturday for 174 plus tax. Internet price match from a local dealer. Unfortunately someone had changed the terminal sizes to match the Optima battery that was in there so I have to get a new positive terminal and ground cable. Needed a new vent tube also. They changed the elbow to fit the Optima.

Skibob So true! Those who do it wrong leave frustrations for those who need to clean up after them.

The lady I bought the car from was very nice. I could see her just taking it to the mechanic in March 2011 (date on battery) and them doing it. I would have put the old parts in a bag and tossed it into the back bin but that’s me. On the plus side I have a conversion kit I can use if I’m in a pinch. ;)

I would swear by 2011 correct batteries existed, but maybe not.

You mean the Optima battery’s? I did not know they didn’t have an exact replacement battery.

Thanks to all of you! I am sure there will be more posts. I love this car so far...A bit more about me. I am a car person...I have owned (and loved) 3 Series 2a SWB land rovers, a 1985 Mercedes 300td, 2005 suburban, a honda insight (leased) a volvo 240, and an Audi A3 hatchback (wife's car)...loved them all.

Just bought this 2008 pkg.3 with 76k mi. for $7k. All dealer maintenance records, even the original purchase order. Never thought I see myself driving a Prius, but i like it! A few dings, nothing major. Ladie was a bad driver. Everything is tight. Looking to upgrade the JBL sound system since I'm on the road alot. Sirius/XM most important.
