Hi all. I haven't been on these boards for about a year and a half when I had a terrible experience with an Oklahoma City dealer who promised me a phantom Prius. Ugh, that sucked.

Anyway, fast forward almost 2 years and I've just taken the plunge again and ordered a 2006 Seaside Pearl #4 from a Sioux City, Iowa dealership (I now live in SoDak). I've been told 30 to 45 days and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well this time. We are trading in our 2005 Sienna (don't hate me, we have a 2-year-old  ) and fortunately, the trade-in values are great for Siennas.

Apparently, this dealership just built a new building/lot so they have been allocated a certain number of said Prius which is why they have a few available...I hope they are telling me the truth. Sorry to sound so cynical, but after what happened last time, I won't believe it until I am driving home from Sioux City with my Prius :D

I spent the day calling all over the Midwest and found a few places with 4 - 6 week waits, but with allocated cars unspoken for. So I suppose there is hope!

Just a little update: got the deposit receipt in the mail today and also called just to touch base with my sales guy (since he was helping another person when I called to give the deposit), and was told the car could be there as early as mid-August. He also said his sales manager told him the VINs might be in this coming week...

So, sounds good so far. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Good luck.. I love the Seaside Pearl color. It looks different colors in shade and bright light, very striking.. has a nice shine and can be a little dirty and you won't notice it too much, unlike white or black (sorry Black & White Prius owners, just my preference... not that I'm saying anything you don't already know)

Great! I waited three months and am told it's now 9 months at my dealer...

I love the Seaside Pearl! At first I wanted what was an aqua color...but I am really happy with this one....it's bright but not gaudy....and I can spot it easier than my old silver Camry.

We started off with seaside perl as our first choice. Ended up doing almost a 180 and got barcelona red. We love the red but still wonder ... :)

We picked up our Prius yesterday :D Overall, it was the best car buying experience I have had thus far (2 other new cars and one used). We were at the dealer for about 2-1/2 hours (wish that had been shorter), but our sales guy was pretty knowledgable and went over everything with us and we drove it a bit before starting the 2-hour drive back home. No pressure on anything from the business office. Everyone was very nice. They got 13 Prii in their last shipment and all were sold in a matter of a few days. There was just one lonely red one left on the lot after we took ours home. I think it's waiting for it's owner to pick it up. I definitely would recommend this dealer - Art Silva in Sioux City, Iowa.

The seaside pearl color is beautiful and we had lots of fun watching the consumption screen on the way home. I can see how it's addictive at first.

My only complaint so far is the seats. They are pretty uncomfortable for longer drives (my back hurt a bit about an hour into the return trip). I am hoping that some Wet Okole seat covers help that.

I still can't believe I finally have a Prius! Now the real fun begins, right? ;)

    Actually, the fun continues.

The delightful anticipatory period when you read PriusChat & ask questions was also fun, non?

Of course, I have to agree, actually driving your very own Prius (finally) is quite a heady experience.

    Congrats & enjoy!

Congratulations! I agree, you WILL have fun! I've had my 2006 Super White since April, and I'm still excited by having it and driving it. I REALLY, REALLY like when people stop me in parking lots and ask about it. I love showing off how roomy such a little itt-bitty car is, and telling people that I 'only' get about 50 MPG because most of my trips are the 5 mile each way commute. AND saying 'oh, no, you don't plug it in! It recharges the battery by recovering energy while you're braking and some extra energy produced by the gas engine!'.

I don't find the seats uncomfortable on long trips, but I HAVE to use the cruise control and try to avoid the stop-and-go areas (My most frequent 'long trip' is from New Jersey to western Massachusetts, and I take a route through New York State up toward Albany and then go east on the Mass Pilke, about 20 miles farthr than the more direct route through Connecticut, but it usually saves time and definitely saves my back, It's amazing how much stress pushing on the accellerator and brake put on my lower back.)
