It's the same old "vastly superior" nonsense again.

    History repeats...

The cold hard numbers and trends show the industry is coalescing behind two stalwarts: Toyota and VAG. Like I said before, VAG will attack Tesla first in a pincer attack, starting at the high end with Taycan and eTron, followed by the low-to-mid end with the ID line. This will culminate to 50 VAG electric vehicles in the next 3 years, not factoring in EOS with Ford's partnership. Toyota will follow, having laid the groundwork with their landmark Panasonic announcement this week. We'll see what happens to Tesla. I hope they do survive, ditto for GM and Ford.

Even my wife, who drives the old PiP around town, gets visibly agitated when I tell her things like, "don't plug it in and charge while the car's parked in the hot sun." She thinks there's way too many things to pay attention to and it just bugs her.

Imagine if people had to watch oil pressure today like it was in early autos

The kind of people who like to delve in and really understand the technology and tinker and experiment like electric cars. These are the same kind of people that venture into ham radio, run Linux, build home NAS systems, etc. The everyday person just wants to get in and it works. If it's more complicated than fill it up and drive, they're not interested.

Thanks, but I don't think it really answered the question; Weber channel on youtube is much better at that, btw. The video did confirm Tesla's approach to circumvent the conventional manufacturing wisdom which results, among other things, in misaligned body panels and horrible paint jobs. $35k model 3 also likely not happening. Bottom line, those who short Tesla do have valid points.

you hate tesla for some reason, that's fine. but you cannot deny their success.

shorters are in the market to make money. they attempt to manipulate stock prices. there is no correlation between their behavior and a companies products or profitability.

That's the dumbest statement I've seen in a long time. The rest isn't far either.

you've been reading the wrong publications then.

perhaps after starting a new car company, you can tell us what tesla is doing wrong

It's amazing to me how few truly successful businesses there are in relation to the number of people who know a better way. Even truly knowing isn't the same as doing. Many, many times - maybe more often than not - people discover that the optimum way of doing something in theory just isn't possible in reality. Anyone who's done even the smallest home repair project knows how something as simple as "fix that leaky drain trap" can turn into a bigger project than anticipated that forces you into a series of "hacks" and compromises to make it work. Add that to the immense difficulty of managing people (have you ever tried to get somebody to do work they don't want to do?), and it's a helluva thing to not only invent a new product, but invent the entire production line, and make it work.

In the beginning, Eco-Cruze was $22,000(& Chev dealers didn't deal). We got a loaded auto Elantra for $15,500 to go with our Accent. Liked it so much, later we got a sub-$13,000 manual Elantra.....250,000 miles between the three. The two Elantras have never had a repair. Bad Chevy dealers, bad Chevy products, two very satisfied Hyundai consumers..... who can wait for an affordable EV.
