So I had a inverter that I used in my car that I had before the Prius. I tried plugging it into my Prius and it seems to have done something to the cigarette lighter. Ive checked every single fuse that is located under the driver side area and every fuse is working fine. I used both a fuse tester and for the cigarette fuse I pulled it out and visibly looked at it. Those fuses dont seem to have been blown at all. I then tested the converter in my brothers vehicle and it straight up blew his cigarette lighter fuse. The converter is now in the trash

Is there another fuse that is not locked under the driver side area that may have blown? Does the cigarette lighter have some sort of internal fuse?

Next step is to inspect the whole circuit for any signs of damage... Prius have fuse boxes under the dash and under the hood, I'm not familiar enough with Prius C to tell you where to look, but the diagrams on the inside of the fuse box covers will show you the way...

That's the only one that I can see. If the fuse isn't blown, maybe your adapter is bad?

Yes I checked all these and not a single one was blown.

I would still attempt replacing the fuse, just to see. As I mentioned, from the diagrams, I'm not seeing anything else that is inline between. I'll be following this thread, for sure. Hope it is just a fuse that is "mostly" good, but not good enough?

I know it doesn't work unless the car is started.

So I finally got around to trying to fix this. Seems when I was checking the fuses for being blown I missed the fact that there was a 20amp fuse where the 15amp should be. So here is a pic of the fuse. I switched it out with a brand new 15amp and the cig adapter is still not working. So at this point I’m assuming the higher amp fuse let too much juice through the line and possibly burnt out the adapter itself. Before all this happened I had replaced the radio so I’m at least familiar with taking those pieces apart.

Wow... while that fuse looks burnt to a crisp, it's still in one piece. You can pick up an aftermarket adapter pretty cheap at autozone... as long as you don't mind doing the wiring. :D But it sounds like you don't.

Many 12v lighter sockets have internal fuses. I don't know for a fact that the c has it, but I commonly see them in Asian cars, so I'd expect to find one in a c.
