Perhaps a Gen 4 Li-Ion battery pack would work or could be made to work.

I know from the Kelly University videos, the Prime is basically two 4th gen Prius batteries. Together in one larger case IIRC.

Yeah maybe with the 2012-2015 PIP they're so confident of low failure rate, it's "cross that bridge when they come to it"? Maybe if/when they get a failure, they can put together a pack? Or just come to a cash settlement?

That doesn't appear to be a Toyota part number. And the picture looks like a regular third gen battery. And the descriptions says it's remanufactured. At best they don't really know what they're selling. Or it's bait and switch?

I was kinda shooting from the hip; watched john kelly videos:

It's actually 2.5 lift back (lith ion) batteries: 4th gen Prius has 2 banks, Prime has 5 banks.

This battery does look suspicious for a Gen 3 PLUG-IN, it looks like a Gen 3 regular battery. The other thing I was told you cannot REFURBISH a lithium battery.

Well it doesn't look a thing like my battery in shape, size, color, fan/s, or housing material.

Also, Google can't find "battery 138236-05829257" or "2012 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid Battery Pack - Partsgeek"

But I did find my '13 PiP listed with that same picture at Cardone® - Remanufactured Drive Motor Battery Pack for $1,197.11 plus core deposit.

They seem to have quite a variety. I would tread very carefully, if at all into the realm of used or "rebuilt" PiP batteries.

John Kelly, in his deep dive with a Prime battery, disassembled one of the 5 cell stacks, and found when clamping rods are released (requiring drilling out of some permanent rivets), the whole thing swelled about 2" in length. It was only with the aid of two pipe clamps they were barely able to get it back together.

As I didn't see this car in China, I couldn't offer more ideas except you could offer some information of this battery? Is it lithium battery type or Ni-MH Battery as Prius Gen3?
