Good evening guys. I got a Prius 2008 I need to replaced the abs accumulator pump. I intend to purchased a used one, off eBay in the coming days. Here's the problem: The ones I have seen on eBay fits all gen2 models. But my concern is since they are all used, and without their mileages being displayed on that platform, how I'm I sure that the ones on sale off eBay, are not the same ones with same part numbers as displayed here? Can anyone pls suggests an upgraded abs accumulator pump with a different part number that can match a gen2(2008)? Would any of the gen3s, work? Thanks for the response.
All the part numbers will work for 2004-2009. You'll just have to find one with the newest part number (I've tried and it's nearly impossible)
You may be better off getting a rebuilt unit. There are places that offer them. I think around $600 with warranty. I think the accumulators are like the inverter cooling pump they go after 100k miles. Done both around 130k.
Nope, it was 2 months 2 days out of coverage. Bit the bullet purchased new one for $1300 installed for $525. Local shop.
I bought one from a salvage yard. There are 3 different part numbers used... I would pick one that is the newest and lowest miles if you can make that choice. From the information I have gotten which part number doesn't matter. The new replacement one from Toyota has ONE part number for all years of second gen. So they all need to be compatible with each other. The one I put into my car did not have the same part number as what came out of it.. and it worked just fine. Took me about 5 hours to swap it, plus the time to bleed the brakes. You will need techstream to do that or take it to a dealer and have them do it. My local dealer charge $85 for that. I have a few pictures of the disassembly process but not many.. if you need those let me know. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks for yoye info. Glad to know that any of those part numbers does not matter. I have techstream, and the skill set required to do the job. Thanks so much!
here is the Toyota part number for the upgraded actuator if you are interested Shipment Details Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total 44500-47141 Actuator Assembly $1,134.95 1 $1,134.95
That's cheaper than when I asked.. my dealer told me $1800. I bought one for $250 came from a running car with no codes. Wasn't going to drop $1800 on a 10 year old car with 220k on it. Have put 55k on the car since.. still works fine. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
$600 with a warranty could work for many here, please post any additional information. And if you know of other places or shops that also offer such a rebuilding service that would be great to share here as well. There was a company in Texas (Prior) that was offering rebuilt units, not sure if they've started up again. Besides the rebuilt Dorman product #587-765 with a 'limited lifetime warranty' (cheapest found at $706.95), do you know of any others?
Yeah, that would be the product from Prior Automotive out of the Dallas area (mentioned in my post above). Though RA still has it listed for sale, they may not be able to fulfill. Here is a link to the old thread and what we learned at that time. Maybe someone could revisit the idea and reach out to Prior/Jesus again, or purchase one at Rock Auto.
